Fun fact you haven’t read in any local print media all year...In the storied program that is SSA, this was their first undefeated season. Doves gave up but 6 goals all year. Some of the old timers on the board, please tell us if so few goals against has been accomplished by any D1 (or any division) state champion. Hard to believe these girls (especially seniors) flew under the radar and were virtually ignored all year in a hope that someone would knock them off of their throne. The queen and her court, however, still reside at SSA. Lots of folks on the board may be disappointed tonight but these girls are CHAMPIONS!
Congrats to our friends at Northshore. Hard fought match and those girls’ future is bright! Won’t see a better girls high school match.

Idk about a girls team going undefeated and conceding fewer goals, but I had a hunch and confirmed using the archives that the 2006-2007 Jesuit Boys team went 30-0-2 and conceded only 5 goals.

Great game to watch tonight. Congratulations to the Northshore girls on a great run. Congratulations to SSA on a great performance tonight. While I think SSA had the better of the chances, NHS gave them all they could handle tonight. Hold your heads high girls!

Any other girls team besides Jesuit 2013 BEn Franklin (which is D2) went 20-0 in 2013 but I can’t find their goals against. I’m not aware of any other D1 girls team.

Northshore girls went 70-0-1 with five straight state titles from 1986-1990. Now that's an impressive run! Knew they had won 5 straight per the Advocate article but wasn't aware of the record details. Talk about a tie feeling like a loss, lol. Any stats on goals allowed?

And in 1985 they went unbeaten until the state final match. Very close to six straight titles. However, much different era. To go unbeaten through a season in today’s game is quite a feat. Congratulations on a great season.

This thread is incredibly lame to the one on the SPS v Jesuit fellas side. It is mainly due to the fact that we actually like and respect NS parents. All that said, the grotto was on fiyah this weekend! Just sayin....

By all accounts this was a great game. Congrats to SSA for taking everyone’s best shot and coming out on top. Congrats to the Northshore road warriors. What a run. Given that Byrd went toe to toe with Northshore, I would really like to have seen what Byrd would have done in a match against the Doves.
Perhaps next year?

It would have been similar to the 2018 Byrd vs SSA result 7-0 or VC or SJA vs SSA matches this season 4 or 5-0. Not sure Byrd had enough athletes in the mid or back to keep up.

Guess we will all have to struggle with that unanswered question due to Byrd”s late season schedule changes. As for next season the Doves lose 7 seniors but they don’t rebuild, they reload. #3peat

My daughters final high school game. I had to wait awhile before responding. The day started off as normal for a championship game, mass, nervous and a long bus ride. SSA parents holed-up at the local cantina across the street from the the field. Weather forecast cancelled normal tailgate activities. Wound up at the parking lot and greeted with hugs and handshakes from the Northshore parents and fans. WHO DAT, the oysters were good and beverages cold! Departing to the game the theme was “good luck and hope no injuries”. The game ended as I hoped and wish it would. The SSA girls were humble in victory and Northshore gracious in defeat as evidenced in the video by NHSF . Parents came over shook hands offering congrats. Fans were respectful. Probably the most enjoyable experience in 5 yrs of games, over 100. Hats off to Northshore for the effort by some great kids! Having watched them develop and grow as players and young ladies has been a pleasure. These girls, on both teams, will advance and do well at the next level. Once the game is over for them they excell in lessons learned from this. Adios, and on to the boys thread as Goalie2
