$10000 this year strictly on charter buses...and $13000 on hotel rooms. This was all out of our club budget, not from the school. I think if it gets split like this then you need to move away from having districts. Just set a 15 game minimum and go by P.R. Why? Playoffs are split. This doesn't change anything else.

There’s TWELVE (12) Girls basketball championships. Who thinks that’s a good idea? When you start going down that path with soccer, how do you stop it from devolving into that? Was looking on the boys side for basketball. There are 12 Div I teams. Top teams got 2 byes in the playoffs and they all made playoffs. Same thing for Div 5. Seems pretty dumb to me.

This is the reason most states with exceptional soccer do not bother with school ball. It’s a shame. Top club teams in N. Texas don’t play school ball at all. Not to say they don’t have school ball, just not played by top players

Splitting into 3 divisions for both select and non-select would not affect district play at all. Shouldn't change any budgets for any schools.

Can (or does anyone have the time to) someone break that down to see how it would have played out t this year? Does anyone have a number for total select/nonselect in each division at this time? How are charter and/or magnet schools classified? it's strange to me after following this discussion, that everyone ignores the elephant in the room that is the quality of public education in the state. The system is perennially on the list of relegation for the country. Who can argue with parents or guardians who want their kids to receive a quality education? Yes there are quality public schools in the state and they most likely have very decent athletic programs and academic clubs, but their numbers don't just the reality of the majority of schools.

So does the district winner still get in automatically for their specific playoff? This would mean you don't have the same number of auto-qualifiers in each playoff or does that go out the window? I just thought it was a good time to make that change and get rid of districts that force you to play games that do not benefit anyone. I wasn't saying you had to do it, I just wish it would happen.
Some of the new districts have 10 teams in them which means half of your allowed games now come within a district that you cannot control the quality of those matches.

No one is arguing with students receiving a quality education, in fact, most of us actually encourage the fact. To be honest, I'm not sure what you're arguing for, except that public schools aren't good academically in the state, and if they are, they are good athletically. I don't know what you're trying to infer.

No automatic district winners in the playoffs. It's a silly rule anyway in my opinion. 2. I see your point on the quality of matches, and I don't disagree, however, it does take away any option for some schools to be able to play good teams. I think a great way to help this, or at least alleviate the problem, would be awarding the winning team AT LEAST as many points as the losing team. It won't make the system perfect, but it at least helps a bit. Copa, I totally can understand why you would want to change to a non-district schedule, and I our team has been the team that no one wanted to play in district because we were such a drag on power ratings.

Counts as a tournament, allows you other tournaments plus all of your other games, fulfills district requirements...hopefully the other coaches are on board.
