after reading the thread that rainbowcycle wrote about d1d3 all start team, i thought to myself, why doesn't soccer have an all star game at the end of the season. i know that football does, at least the surrounding area of baton rouge does. What would be the downside to having one, or better yet, create all star teams from the districts or even make regions and have like a showcase tournament. collegiate coaches could come and see louisiana's best players play all at once. just something to think about.

i think it would increase collegiate attention allowing coaches to come and see the best players in the state in one place and it would weed out all the players that don't have the talent to play at the next level, i think this is something that would definately pursue. one idea is to have the first team all districts from the entire state play in a tournament.

I think it would be neat to have a showcase tourny at a central location in the state..and send all the best players in each district there....to play a tourney..

what they are looking at is... Splitting the state into 4 seperate regions... region 1 plays 4 and region 2 plays 3, and then the winners play each other the next day....
You would split the divsions by southwest louisiana,,, below the shore, above the shore, and entire north louisiana....

I would think that LHSAA would have to approve of this... Then you would need the LHSCA to vote on the region's team, and to select a coach to represent them...
You would also have to find a location to play at, and a sponsor to sponsor the jerseys for these teams... You would need volenteer's to run the tournament and officials there to call it off it weather don't permit the safety of the game....
You would have to start with a petition in saying which ways this would be done, get signatures, and send it to LHSAA...

Region 2: Beaurgaurd Allen Evangeline St. Landry Ibera St Martin And all parishes West
Region 3: Pointe Coupee Iberville Ascention livington And all parishes to the east of these on the north shore
Region 4: St Mary Asumption St John St James And all parish to the easy and south of the shore....

Your ideas are great about an all-star game. It would definitly give soccer more visiability in the state. The current problem is the LHSAA.
I am a coach and run the LHSSCA top 10 poll. We have discussed at our meetings many times the possibility of an all-star game. Everyone involved wants one. The problem is that LHSAA will not even recognize our organization. Until they do we will not have the support of the LHSAA to organize an all-star game, as well as a better playoff system among other issues that the soccer community would like to see changed.
It is important that all the coaches get involved in the LHSSCA. The same 20 stay involved every year (make that 21 because I will insure coachray will be involved next year ;D). The LHSAA will not take our association seriously until we can show them that we are serious about our own association. Once this happens and the LHSSA takes us seriously, then maybe we can make some strides.
It is also important that many of you players get involved as coaches when your playing days are over.
Tell your coaches to contact somebody about the LHSSCA and get involved.

why would it have to be associated with the lhsaa, can't you just invite the players and conduct it as a seperate organization

The main thing is if an injury would happen who would cover it... It wouldn't be a high school even so LHSAA wouldn't cover it, which means the person putting it on may be forced 2, and im sure that is the last thing they want
Also, it wouldn't be recognized to be region state champs for sernior jackets, or mean anything... Some players may refuse to play do to LHSAA not being a part of it.....

I understand that the All Star team idea may have come up several times, but I am new. Does anyone know what must be done? I believe the coaches from each team must get this pushed thru the LHSAA. They, along with the Athletic directors from each school are the only hope. Us fans and players can not get it done.
If it is ever done - it would be great to subdivide the state by East and West, so the South would not always win. Maybe two All-Star games - one for 5A and one for all other divisions (assuming enough 5A team).
Let's face it. this is the only way any La player not on the very elite teams in the state will have a chance of getting a college coach to see them play.
This deserves to have attention and effort behind doing it.

I'm working to see what must be done and what all i need to put into a proposal to get it passed... LHSAA might approve of it, just because they wont have to do anything but say its a high school event, that way they will cover it... This protects the people who get injured and such.
Also, I'm not looking at dividing east to west or north to south... I was thinking 4 regions with A -vs- D and B -vs C and then the winners play in a championship the next day... Reason for this, to put this on year after year will cost money, and with this extra game (2 including girls) it will birng in that little extra money to help get jerseys, and such for the following year....
The first year is always the hardest because you don't have any money to get anything started, and you must depend solely on the donations of companies and the community to sponsor jerseys, and even A red field, or a college facility to provide housing for these teams...
If I do do this proposal i will want signitures, and sicne i wont be able to get you to sign it, i would type your name in, and attach a copy of an email you would send to me, saying you support the proposal, and would have your email address along side of you showing that you exist, along with what town your from, so they see that it is wide spread.....
I have a list of all schools and what region they are in if you would want to see it let me know....

I am not a coach or a school administrative, but have a junior in HS and am a livid fan of soccer. I would be willing to do whatever I can.
I know that it could cost some but perhaps it could be a partial paid by the athlete and partial raised by corporate sponsers. Some could even get it fully paid based on need.
I would still suggest that since the south is far better and advanced than the north that you find a way to mix and match the players to make for a competitive game or games.
The interesting thing would be how the players are picked. Everyone can pick the offensive players, just look at goals and assists, but the defensive players will be much harder.

How about splitting the state into East vs. West.
West = BR west (district 1-4) East = East of BR (district 5-9)
districts are from Division I.

and LHSCAA would choose the region's team, and coach... 20 players would be selected, and along with 2 goal keepers, at least this is what i am putting in the proposal, do you'll think this is 2 much, 2 less?
