2022 USA World Cup Qualification- Game 10 at Canada

Another poor performance in the first half. We are not stringing good passes, but instead seem to be chasing the ball when we are on the ball.

Canada’s goal was on our defensive blunder on our left side.

Replay of the goal shows poor play of USA being too lackadaisical in defending. Miles Robinson taken to task. Onweyu highlights how slow we were to respond. No challenges on goal kick or ensuing put back by Canadian header. We seemed to be sleeping.

Basically comes down to Canada converted their one good chance and we hit the crossbar on ours.

2nd half begins USA high pressing.

46 - USA misss a great chance because of a miss pass from Aaronson.

48 - Canada wins foul at midfield. Slow to restart. Canada bunker defense holding up.

49 - ref whistles stop in play when players writhe on field after colliding.

50 - USA free kick, no, drop ball goes to USA. USA taken down on right side, no whistle. Chaos in middle leads to usa throw.

51 - both teams miss pass to turn it over .

53 - USA seem to be electing to dribble a lot. Passing it around after holding it. Switching sides leads to throw in after threatening in the box.

54 - long throw cleared leads to Canada break away with two players that get all the way to goal and a dangerous cross in front of goal.

USA come back, McKinney saves ball in corner. Dest whistled for a foul after being dispossessed on the dribble in Canada’s box.

56 - sloppy passes ruin a good break away chance on a counter for usa.

Later loses ball on the dribble after winning ball back.

57 - USA work the ball around. Pulisic unable to win pass in left corner. Canada thwarting USA passes by standing firm and solid in defense.

59 - Zardes wins ball after being fouled at midfield. 1st touches continue to haunt team USA.

Still no change. Every second Zardes is on the field it’s 10v11. I hate berhalter so much.

61 - USA throw left attacking third. Long from McKennie right to Canada head, cleared before being won back by Adams who then gives it away for a great shot opportunity from Canada on left side 10 yards away…wasted with poor pass.

64 - USA maintaining possession using more long passes, before turning over on a foul. Ref is inconsistent in calls in my opinion.

Aaronson wins ball, gets to box, taken down, no call.
