So, with the injuries suffered at Canada yesterday, there are spots open, but I have yet to read any emergency call ups to get someone like John Brooks or Josh Sargent into camp. With the loss yesterday, the tide of qualifying has turned and it looks like we may once again face the prospect of not qualifying now that Costa Rica is making up ground on us. We do not seem to be producing goals and this problem goes back to before the Nations Cup last year. We have been discussing it here in this forum since then. What are your solutions? Who do you call up? Who do you replace? Should Greg Berhalter be replaced now or after this game? If he loses to Honduras who has yet to win a game in qualifying, is Berhalter gone? Who do you replace him with? Will that be enough to qualify? www.google.com/amp/s/fansided.com/2022/01/30/usmnt-fans-gregg-berhalter-fired-canada/amp/

Beastly, this article is for you: alakhbaralyoum.com/usmnts-gregg-berhalter-not-making-most-of-talent/While Zardes can work hard, he cannot link to his teammates with his Wreck-It Ralph touch, and especially as he’s out of season. This is another problem Berhalter has run into. There’s always been a suspicion that US Soccer pushes MLS players onto the national team roster to promote the league, even if they have no business there. They have even less business when again, they’re NOT IN SEASON! Zardes was a non-factor. When it came time to make changes, it was Kellyn Acosta, Jordan Morris, Paul Arriola. Morris wasn’t up to the international level when he had two knees and was in the middle of an MLS season. Where was Luca De La Torre? Or Jordan Pefok? Or Josh Sargent? None are answers by themselves, but at least they’re playing.

If they do not win, Berhalter will be fired. I say he should be fired regardless. This roster is amazing but they are not playing like it. Win or not he should be fired in a must win game vs Honduras.

And it has to be someone who is available to take the job -- Klopp, Tuchel, Pep, etc., aren't available and can't be suggested.

I doubt we will assign a top guy like the ones you listed however it is possible we get someone like Joachim Low who has a lot of experience with the German National Team.

Win or not he should be fired in a must win game vs Honduras. I agree with you. Others will say otherwise, because if we win tonight, they will say, we are still in second place. With all the points we have dropped so far, we have to make those points up somewhere to qualify and the only way to do that is win at Mexico and Costa Rica, something we never did. So, who is he replaced with? As much as I blame him for the USA program dropping since he took over, Klinsmann should get the job, because he has shown that he can get wins in Mexico. Chances are if Berhalter is fired, it will be a former coach as this is usually what happens this late in the game.

www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/33200346I think the reason we are soft is because we have few veterans with solid CONCACAF experience on our team. It is like we reverted back to qualifying for the 1990 World Cup where it took an away goal in the last game to qualify. That team didn’t win a World Cup game, but they got the experience that led them to improve in 1994 and even with the last place finish in 1998, that team got the experience to lead the 2002 team to its second best World Cup finish in history. None of the Qualificiations were easy, even when we did finish first in qualification. We need veterans that can act as leaders on and off the pitch so when you get to those tough moments, we do not freak out and lose our ability to play solid football. The reason we lack veterans goes back to Klinsmann’s time not developing the younger generations and that gap shows up from the players we have now to the last that crashed out, the Dempsey, Donovan, bradley generation. The gap between them has too few options to call up for national team duty. Now, if we can get this team through like we did in 1990, then maybe we get that experience back to lead us forward in these next years. If not, we continue to languish in the years to come.

Another issue:
Now that Mexico has caught up to the USA in points, and Panama is a point behind us, point differential is more important than ever.
I hope this freeze game in cold temperatures works to our advantage, because the difference in the end may come down to goal difference. We got to keep pouring it on if we are able to get out of our goal drought.

There is virtually no discussion in the national sports media about the USAMNT today because the anti-American Americanism is being propagated.
The last thing the current media wants to do is celebrate American accomplishments. Everything is negative about this team if anything is covered at all.
Once again, the USAMNT is the only sports team whose citizens root against them. Yet, when the women play, they will be celebrated, because they can gripe about how the women are not treated the same as the men.

This game will be unforgettable. Crazy conditions... lineup changes... coach on a hotseat somewhat... WCQ... it's gonna be stupid, but it'll be entertaining in some aspect. I'm not expecting the soccer to be beautiful, but I hope I'm wrong.
