The Blue Jays are back on top after many years of coming close / deserving it. Congrats Hubie and the rest of the Jesuit family - everyone can only feel happy for such a hardworking program!

Catholic probably outplayed Jesuit tonight. Blue jays just had more heart. Catholic definitely outplayed Jesuit with their passing ability. Possession held most of the game by Catholic with a lot of good looks at goal. It was a very physical match, both teams giving their all. Tough way for the Bears to go out, but props to the Blue Jays. They pressured constantly and capitalized on one of the only Catholic defensive mistakes all game with their game winning header.

Congrats to Jesuit on their 14th state title. That's now the most state titles on the boys side, breaking their tie with St. Louis Catholic. They are tied with the Newman girls for most state titles in Louisiana across boys and girls programs. Very impressive.

As a disclaimer, I wasnt at the game, I didnt watch the game, I had no dog in the fight nor did I have $ on the contest but I've always been put off by the "they didnt want it bad enough" or "the other team had more heart" trains of thought. Of my team's 8 championship losses, NONE had to do with the fact that we didnt "want it bad enough". In two of those eight games we were outplayed, by a better Jesuit team in 2013 and the Country Day girls in 2000 or 2001. (I did start 5 8th graders that year, in my defense). The other 6 times we were the better team but loss for myriad reasons ( could explain each game seperately) BUT none was from lack of heart or effort. Catholic was undefeated and well coached with a crap ton of seniors- there was no lack of effort or heart. And Jesuit lost to Jackson Academy, I think.

Don’t answer the question about who Jesuit lost to this season. That is a fishing expedition. The LHSSA website has that answer.

Not sure why I but I feel your name is familiar. Maybe you are related to a St. Paul’s family member of mine. I would say this post reeks of failure, but if my gut is right, you have handed me several losses in my career, so you are no failure. I don’t see why you include jesuits loss to Jackson. In the end, now is the time to say give your respect to coach Hubie and the program that made St. Paul’s (and mandeville but I won’t get into the system that targeted “New Orleans” teams while turning a blind eye to the north side of the lake) a better team. Show some respect as every program has showed you! As always, I am backed by Gallstar and he is infallible around here!
