I see complaining about the barstool sports post. This really sucks for that poor keeper. The only blame I give is to the local media guy Garland Gillian’s who thought it was a good idea to show what may have been the worst moment ever in a kids life, post on the internet for all to see and have it shared hundreds of times. You Mr. Gilland should be ashamed of yourself.
It’s news worthy when your a pro athlete getting paid millions not when you a high school athelete. Shame on you and anyone who shares the post. I ask everyone on this message board most of whom are parents, how would you feel if that was your kid?

Was the canoe celebration really necessary on an own goal like that? There should be a way for a referee to revoke a goal if you act like a big enough pecker after it is scored. Like, if you do anything that can result in a yellow or red immediately following a goal, you should lose the goal. And there should be an appeals process. If you can prove on video that a team deserved a yellow or red after a goal and didn't get it, you can appeal it to the LHSAA. And if that makes the game end in a tie, the team with the revoked goal loses. Would cut down on a lot of the clowning. But then a lot of schools may never win another soccer game. If you don't want them to celebrate, don't let them score. Soccer isn't soccer without celebration. Does anyone complain when pro's celebrate. Ronaldo ripping his shirt off? Neymar whip and nae nae, Crouch robot ... ... rocking the baby, sliding in the corner, boot shining, ? Adults always trying to take the fun out of the kids game. I think it is kinda cringe to celebrate a goal your team didn't score but nothing wrong with celebrating, especially after you just won a state title.

That is an insane take. They can maybe be a little more strict about celebrations and give out more cards if you want the celebrations to be cut down. You can’t exactly make the ball seem like it never went in the net because some kid who isn’t even an adult wants to do something stupid. There’s cards for a reason.

HC pressed the second half BF had a bad moment. Game over. Why would a team not celebrate that. A goal is a goal. Stop bitching about kids celebrating a goal the put them up in the final game for many them.

I don’t have any issue with celebrations…it’s part of the game and every team does it. Some teams are more absurd than others, but still have no issue. If the opposing team doesn’t like it they can keep them from scoring or score themselves and up their celebration.

He's a kid, don't tell anyone how they lost the game, let it be a mystery. Bull. They lost. People wanna know how. Sorry for the keeper, sucks, but thems the breaks. No one is celebrating it, they're just reporting it. Well, no one is celebrating except the kids from Holy Cross who are just jerks apparently.

I understand he posted on most if not all the championships before that, but I just feel like it should have been a picture of Holy Cross with the trophy or their first goal to tie it...this is a high school kid who has his mistake all over Facebook, Twitter, etc.

This is frowned upon. Thumbs down all around betting on children "Wahhhh, they're children, boo hoo" Stick to your 9 leg failed parlays please. Betting on high school sports is fundamentally wrong and if you don’t see why then good luck to you!

HC saw that this account, with millions of followers and only posts insanely interesting content, posted the goal that won them state. Don’t victimize yourself, and more importantly the players involved, when in reality HC is happy with their achievement. This is coming from a catholic fan so don’t worry - Gallstar will back me up and he’s obviously the second coming around here so no bother arguing.

Never said Holy Cross shouldn't be happy with their state championship, they should. It was a great game by both teams and you celebrate every win no matter how you get it. Being on barstool is huge for players but when it's for a mistake to lose your team the championship it is not something I'd imagine to be happy about being on barstool. Just an unfortunate situation that has blown up and I feel for the goalie. Mistakes happen and he is certainly not the first or last person to have a mistake.

At the same time, the spectacle of that mistake is so immense that an account like barstool would of course post. And naturally HC will do what they want with it!

I didn't say anything about HC reposting. I was talking about why the original reporter Garland Gillen (misspelled his last name the first time) used that video. I'm not aware if he has affiliations with Holy Cross or not.

You are offended a cannot even conjure up a reason to be mad at HC. Again, for all intents and purposes, I am the furthest thing from an HC fan. Although, my team was undefeated against them in the five years I played high school soccer, I never liked the character of the players I faced - which strengthened my dislike for the program and school in its entirety. With that being said, I am staunchly against your point of view. Good yard - gallstar’s lover

Did you see what they did after the goal? I’ll assume you did not. I really hope you did not. I'm gonna jump in here to say Ben Franklin did the same exact celebration after one of the goals against Riverdale in the semi finals. Some of their players ran across the field to do it. Not sure which goal it was- someone on here who was at the game could probably give the exact one.
Not saying either is right, but if one team did it last round and then another team does it for the game winning goal for the championship, one situation is OK and the other is not?
A lot of these kids play club together around here and know each other. I think too much is being made of the celebration for this goal unless all you've come to say is the "showboating" is wrong, period.
Actually, it was after the 5th or 6th goal when the Riverdale team was done and dusted....
