Ruston is without a doubt the underdog. What exactly is it that Ruston would have to do to win?

Play the best game they have ever played and hope Lafayette plays the worst that any Lafayette team has ever played.
If Ruston were to win this it would be 1-0 or 2-1 and Lafayette would have to go cold on scoring. This is a team that has one of the most potent offenses in the state. I just don't see Ruston pulling this one off.

sorry north LA but this won't even be close. lafayette could play thier JV and win this one. come to think of it they could play thier JV and beat a lot of teams. sorry for sounding cocky but this should be a walk in the park for lafayette.

They play on their football field, it was bad when our girls played on it Friday night. Really got bad when the Byrd and Ruston boys played after us. After 3 days of rain it will be a quagmire but there is no way this one will be close. Lafayette by at least 4.

if ruston beats lafayette, then everybody should point fingers and laugh at lafayette. ruston shouldnt even be within 5 goals of lafayette.

In ideal conditions I would say Lafayette ahould be 5 goals up, but from what I hear about the fields, it will be extremely wet and muddy, so I don't expect a 5+ goal win. I expect LHS to win, but it will be a little closer than it should.

The only thing i have to say is that i have a strange feeling that ruston will beat lafayette. Lafayette is coming into this game way to cocky and since they have never played on rustons field they don't know what to expect. Also rustons record is 15-5 and they haven't been playin easy teams.Lets jsut say their seniors aren't used to loosing very much! If ruston looses it will be by 1 goal.

Who ever said Lafayette was cocky? Trust me, these guys don't play for Lafayette.

Whitebread, lightbread
Whats laffy's record? Whats their competition like? Are the Laffy seniors used to losing?
So what your points with these statements have to do with Ruston?
Laffy 3 Ruston 0

Ruston is 15-5 Lafayette 26-6-1
common opponents:
Sulphur - Ruston lost 0-3, Lafayette won 6-1 and 5-1 Alexandria - Ruston won 1-0, Lafayette won 5-1
To my knowledge, Ruston hasn't played a top 10 team much less beat one. Lafayette has and has.
Also, Lafayette's home field is a football field so Ruston's can't be much smaller. Unless Ruston plays with 10 men in the box, then Lafayette should score at least 3 and I don't think Ruston's offense is good enough to score 4. Am I cocky? I prefer the word confident, and I can be becasue I am a fan and not a player. Plus, unless you are confident, you don't stand a chance to bring the prize home.
Funny thing is, HLB said the same thing in the second round last year. They were the home team and had nothing to lose and their fans and players thought they would definitely pull the upset. Final: 4-1 Lafayette. My guess is the same thing happens this year.

Lafayette 4 - 1 HLB man, H, your scores have been off lately...

I agree H. Confidence plays a huge part. You can't win if you aren't confident. If you go into a game with the slightest thought that you will lose, then you are already beat. On the other side...you shouldn't be over-confident, because that lack luster performance will show on the field. It MIGHT be close for a little while, but Lafayette pulls away in the end.

LHS 4 Ruston 0. Ghandi wants a clean sheet and the PK in the St. Amant game chapped him I'm sure.
The only team that will possibly stop them is Catholic BR. Other than that, I see another LHS/Jesuit match in the finals...

wow! I don't know about that lhs. I'm sure Rummel or Bro Mart will be tough. Especially Rummel...they'll be out for blood if they play for the third straight time in the semis.

Well, I'll bite...My post was a little myopic. Rummel? I don't think so. But BM? I would say maybe.
The game that LHS played against them here was lopsided in terms of the score but did not represent the game itself. So LHS might have a tendency to overlook them. Plus...In my humble opinion, that was the best "game" that LHS played in the second half of the season. So you do make good points...

wasn't the score 4-3? That's lopsided to you?

Was that what it was? I must be having an Altheimer's moment...I'll bite again...But I do remember that they played very well that nite. Maybe what I meant to say was that the score did "not" reflect the way they played...Yea, I think that's it... . CoachRay is going to let me use his decompression chamber for a while...;D
