It doesn't matter what division stm is in. Last year we played all the top D1 teams and beat them all. This year we played all the top teams in D1 and only lost to St Joe's 1-0. Their first win against us in years. We also beat both D1 finalists easily this year. Our Lafayette girls are just good. Doesn't matter the division.

It still seems like it would be better competition for your team. Your scores against many of the D1 schools are closer, for example: SJA 0-1, Dutchtown 2-0, SSA 2-1, Byrd 2-1 & 3-1. On any given day a soccer game that's only won by 1 or 2 goals can be a loss then next time you play. That's not saying you couldn't (or wouldn't) win the title, but it would allow for better competition in playoffs.

That’s really the end of the discussion. Right?

I was responding to the player’s insight that it wouldn’t make a difference if they WERE in D1. Whether or not they are allowed to play up, I can still offer my thoughts on it.

You have a different definition of "easily" than I do.

STM should be D1 in all sports boys and girls for the sake of competition ! As a sports fan I would love the matchups that it would create. As long as they put paper championships ahead of competition , it will never happen. Look at their success in all sports and tell me they should not want to test themselves in D1.

I wasn't trying to say they shouldn't; I was responding to the player who implied that it would be "easy" for them in D1 - I disagree.

STM shouldn’t be in D2. This is good for no one and can’t possibly mean much for them anymore When a school wants to play up, then both the boys and girls teams have to agree to do it. The boys team doesn’t want that. This is no longer the case. Each team has the choice of moving up or remaining. For example, we are choosing to move to Div II for the next 2 seasons while our boys team is remaining in Div III.
