Looked liked one calm team playing a nervous one. Alot of kickball in the first half. Second half both teams seemed to settle down and play soccer.

ths could of had more than 5 goals they had soooooooooo ma ny oppertunities 2 offsides goals and one the ball was rolling in a guy from no where goes and kickes it in. OFFSIDES (wow the LSU is #1in ball was allready rollin in wut a dumass) excuse my words and to top it off a st. louis fan came walkin if frount of ths fans blowin a horn no one did him anything. wow The offsides were legit. The second one, the THS player had an open net and decides to pass it to an offside teammate, who shot it in. Granted, St. Louis had a bad offside call in the second half which would have been Thevenot with a 1 on 1 with the keeper, which = goal. Thevenot pretty much embarassed half of THS's super stabbin' defenders and just had his way with them. He earned the MVP because he controls the game. Overall, Teurlings was better than I expected them to be. They had a few solid players in the offense, but their defense was very weak. It was a good game, and the better team won. Congrats to St. Louis.

Wow, well Congrats to St Louis. I'm sure that coach has even a bigger ego now. One day it will be knocked into perspective. I have known the St. Louis coach for years and I don't believe he is big headed. Just because the man has a ring for each finger doesn't mean he has a big head. It just means he has assembled some talented teams. The ball was definitely not rolling in on the second offsides call. The player made an ill-advised decision to pass the ball to an offsides player when he could have shot it in. Plus the play happened with less than 2 minutes left.

And then the score would have been 10-5 for St. Louis. It's a shame opportunities don't equal goals because St. Louis could really put this one away. One thing I didn't understand was why some of the seniors, that do not start, did not get into the game at all. With a 3 goal lead and 5 minutes to go, I would have subbed in a couple of seniors up top. If a senior has stuck with your team without getting much chances to play all year, I think they should have a chance to play in the championship. After all, it takes a big committment and a lot of pride to stay on the team all year when you know you won't get much playing time and I thought the coach should have honored that committment by putting them in for a little bit.

That's the kind of Geaux Saints I am talking about with the STL Coach. ALL of the Seniors should have played, whether it be 10 minutes or 10 seconds. They ALL should have played. That's just poor ethics and not classy at all

It was a good game. Most people wouldn't have predicted TC in the finals at all. Congrats on a great season. If they are a young team expect a great next year.
Congrats to STL.
Despite what one poster said, Oertling is not full of himself. He takes care of business and takes care of his boys. He built a program that made the semi-finals in a "rebuilding year" last season. He also happens to be a good classroom teacher and the athletic director in a school that, so far, has gone to the playoffs in every sport this year. How bad can he be?
Next year he will shift some guys to replace lost seniors and still have a contender. In the meantime he will replace some assistant football coaches who just got hired away by colleges.
He doesn't have a big ego, but he is having a very good year.

Oldphart, what are your thoughts about him not putting those seniors in at the end of the game?

Maybe he didn't put them in because he saw the TCHS/OCHS game??? 3 goals in the last 5 min???

TCS was penetrating more in the last few minutes. I think he wanted to guarantee the win. It would have been a nice gesture but if it had cost them the game then everybody would be talking about how stupid he was. Since the State MVP will not be playing college soccer, MVP of the championship game & a state title is a good way to finish. Congratulations to St Louis. As a Teurlings fan, all I can do is tip my hat to you guys. Everything about the St Louis program is "class". As for Teurlings, I think they gained some respect along the way. As the St Louis coach stated in the Lake Charles paper, the game was closer than the score indicated. This was an exciting, well played, clean soccer game!

I'm pretty confident Thevenot will get all state MVP as well. How can you argue any other person deserves it more than him?

It was a very good game and everyone involved should be proud of themselves.
Ross Thevenot already won the award from Gatorade for outstanding player in the state. Second winner from St. Louis in 3 years (Joey Lapira, now playing at Notre Dame). In 4 years started on 3 State championship teams.
