Vandy is +2 - 0 at half. Gordon Bloom scored the first one, and also assisted Elliot Lewis' header for goal number two.

4-0 Vandy. Gordom Bloom scores early in half. Ben Bontis scores on a header. About 27 minutes left in the game. Vandy dominating

Wow, I guess this shows how much a dropoff there is after the top 2 teams in Division II. Maybe even just the top team in this case. 8-0 is sad for a state championship game.

Vandy played great n deserved the win but the score doesnt reflect the game...three or so goals were scored in the final few minutes cause EA pulled their goalie to try and score on corners which they had to do becuase they were down 4-0.

Vandy's keeper must had held strong with an extra man against to preserve the shutout Any details?

I COULD CARE LESS about what everybody will think of this result! EA was in the final and nobody else[/u]... and they must be proud of what they accomplish this season! For the 1st time ever, the Spartans won a District Championship and found themselves in the State Final... the Spartans will be back better and stronger!! Thanks to all the Seniors (Matt, Roy, Matt, Brian, TJ, Jared and Sergio...), you did a tremendous job this year and I could not be more proud of yall... thank you so much!

I have a feeling that they stomped their mark on this game because nobody believed that they were that good. A lot of people were saying that this game would end up being really close, EA would put it to overtime and Vandy felt they'd let everybody know that they are the best. But, congrats EA for making it so far

I guess that St. Michael's 0-3 loss WAS INDEED their toughest game of this years state play-off run. Isn't that right Becks??? regardless of those Zachary comparisons

[/quote] That's great and all, but if your satisfied with just making it to the finals, then that's all you'll ever do - just be a 2nd place team. I know what it feels like to lose in the finals, as well as it feels like to win. I can tell you that when we lost and parents and friends were patronizing us, it only made us feel worse. If you want the state championship really bad, and you end up falling short, it hurts a lot. I still had something to be proud of, but the patronizing only took away from that. Let your players know that you are proud of them and leave it at that. Telling them "hey, at least you made it to the finals!" will do no good. I would have rather lost in the first round then lost in the finals, because losing a state championship is much bigger than a chance at a state championship.

I thought it was a great show by both teams. Unfortunately, Vandy was that good. EA missing their leading scorer didn't help, but again, Vandy 6 of those goals were pretty stunning to watch
EA should be proud of the accomplishment. They are the first team from Ascension Parish boys or girls HS soccer program to make the finals and they did it with class and style.
Vandy on the other hand has so many of these one loses count.
The touch on the ball was the most evident difference tonight, but one has to recongnize that EA played hard, fast, aggressive, and were able to create some scoring opportunities.
Look at the depth of Vandy as well. The last goal, what a beauty to watch as it came from a jumping half forward volley over the defender and keeper, was scored by a JUNIOR who sat the bench until there were only 3 minutes left!! He wasn't even going to get the chance to play.
Ascension parish has nothing like that...........yet. But we will.
Great job boys. We are all very proud of you and your hard work. Way to represent. Congrats Coach Bruno and Boo. You are building a program and not just teams. Congrats Ascension Parish. You country folk with your small but growing soccer following are making a mark.

I'm not saying you're trying to do something wrong, it's just some people don't realize that trying to help can actually make things worse.
