University 2 - 2 Catholic Shot counts: University 7 - 30 Catholic Though Catholic dominated possession, they needed a surprise quick start FK to go ahead 1-0 near the end of the first half. Early in the second half, University scored two quick goals with an indirect free kick and a logjam after a corner, 2-1. Both were by Matt Copeskey. Catholic tied the game with 13 minutes to go and that was the final score. It was a very nice tune-up game for both of them. Though physical, it was a relatively clean game with only two yellows.

1/29/07 @ Leesville DeRidder - 0 Leesville - 1 (OT) What? This must be the upset of the year, unless DeRidder fielded their JV squad (possible). Records coming into this game. DeRidder: 20-4-3 Leesville: 2-9-1

Mon. 1/29:
Salmen 1 Chalmette 1
Salmen wins on PKs, 5-4 (6 rounds of kicks). Salmen's keeper made a great save in the 6th round to win the game.
These two teams now tied for second place in district 6-II and will have to play a tiebreaker tomorrow.

BRHS 4 McKinley 0
Not a great game for BRHS who was flustered by McKinley's high pressure style. BRHS was finally able to break the defense and McK's keeper with about 10 minutes left in the first half for two goals. The game slowed down a bit in the second half with a great goal from Alex Van Zandt. He hit a volley from the left side about 25 yards out that knuckled down hard under the crossbar. Keeper made a great attempt and got a hand to it before it trickled into the right side of the goal. Both teams are very young and will be strong next year. Good luck to McK in the playoffs.

BRHS @ EA tomorrow night... EA did not play since Saturday 1/20 and hopefully won't be too rusted for a quality opponent like BRHS!!
