I will be attending the game this evening. See my post in Lafayette @ Terrebonne (neutral opinion) in the girls section. I'll be posting my thoughts on this game later this evening when the game is complete.

Chalmette 0:3 Vandebilt
The first half was nearly completely controlled by Vandebilt, with several shots on goal, but only few finding the frame. The Chalmette goalkeeper kept the Owls in the game as the halftime score was 0-0. Vandebilt did have one excellent opportunity that went off the left post. Chalmette seemed to play a longball strategy while Vandebilt controlled the midfield and created opportunity.
In the second half, Vandebilt 7 fouls a Chalmette player then kicks the ball away. A new ball is thrown to the field and Vandebilt 12 throws that one away. Neither player is approached by the referee. In the 50 minute, a centered ball is slotted right from 8 yards out to put Vandy up 1-0. In the 55 minute the second shot off the ironworks is recorded. In the 72 minute Vandebilt 11 dives, then dissents - no card. The first caution of the game came in the 73 minute when Chalmette 1 commits unsporting behavior. Vandebilt responds with a goal in the 76 minute, slotted left. Chalmette's frustrations build and in the 78 minute a Chalmette player is cautioned for committing a tactical foul in the penalty area. Vandebilt converts the PK for for the 3-0 capper.
The referee performed his duty to the best of his ability and called the game fairly. He was not as fast as he could have been, as his knee was bothering him; however, he still did his best.
Congrats to Vandebilt on the win.

not bad i guess
considering we played what i guess is one of the best programs in this state
did we have ANY chances in that first half??
i just saw jesuit beat bonnabel 2-0 at joe yenni stadium near my house(in metairie, i moved there after the hurricane)
i just wanted to see what we might be up against starting next year
no wonder they're #3 in the country. their defenders and midfielders closed fast to every ball, and their goalkeeper wasn't tested the whole game. if there's any weak spot(and i'm being picky), they missed lots of very easy chances(maybe because bonnabel packed 6 defenders on the back line), but they got two of them home. for contrast, bonnabel didn't have a single good chance the entire game. i counted 33 on jesuit's roster, bonnabel only fielded 12
jesuit scored one goal in the first half and had another bounce luckily over the bonnabel keeper's head. they also thought a ball very early in the game went through the netting, and the ref came over and looked, but he decided goal kick bonnabel.
you know, i kind of feel sorry for their fans sometimes(and john curtis football, and other programs like that). it has to be tough to root for them knowing that they're expected to win EVERY single time. now granted i think jesuit is a more legit school and program than john curtis, but their fans didn't seem too happy for making the state quarterfinals, unlike chalmette fans who rushed the field after we beat morgan city in round one. maybe it's the price of success on a huge scale. i imagine the jesuit goalkeeper must get tested in practice.
oh well wait till next year. i just hope we're not a waste of time/gas for rummel/bm/jesuit fans.

Easy with your assumptions. They are #3 in the country for winter soccer, not soccer as a whole.

not to be beligerent about this, but what does playing in the winter have to do with this?? let's switch this post's focus. it's not about chalmette anymore. our season is over (then again, it is about chalmette because we have to play these boys im talking about) jesuit is something like 28-0 or something with three games to go that's right. undefeated, untied. i dare you misletek, if they especially can win their last three, to tell any of them (they shouldn't be too hard to find; there's 33 of 'em) that they're not as good as any other team because they played when their state association told them to play i mean, what do you want them to do, sign beckham, ronaldinho, ronaldo, landon donovan?

Let Jesuit play any powerhouse from MD and I'd bet the MD team whips them.

Yea, I highly doubt anytime would "whip" Jesuit. Maybe beat them, but no one would kill them.

I don't dislike Vandebilt. Is their next game at home, or do we need to wait for a result?
C'mon, you know there was a big difference in the skill level between Chalmette and Vandebilt. If Chalmette put one in, you'd have a bunch of frustrated boys and a new game...not to mention...alot of wind in Chalmette's sails. Sure, Vandebilt dominated the game, but don't you think if Chalmette would have put one in around the 60 minute that the game would have been alot more exciting?

i think that ur exactly right vandy controlled the game and when u control the game u dont let ur opponent create chances and thats what vandy did eventhough their offense was a little slow the defense kept a lock on the game until the offense got going

Vandy took shots on the goal all night, two went off the post. Herman (I think that's the kids name) gets excited anytime he's near the box and that hurt his shots. He did have one nice crack on the goal that impressed me.
