I'm pretty ignorant on this subject, so I'm curious as to if the players CAN play but the other sport's coaches don't let them/the kids don't want to be involved in too much or if they CAN'T play because of it being against the rules. its hard to go to both practices, because cross sountry state is next week and everyone has their districts and city championships this week so if i was a coach i wouldnt let my runners go and play

Cross Country is a MINOR sport, therefore they are allowed to play other sports.... Football is a major sport, therefore they are not allowed to play a 2nd one.
However, some CC coaches do not let their players play soccer until cross country for the simple fact that is when there district and state meet is, and I dont blame them.

As previously stated by many on this thread, the above reported scores are very hard to gauge how strong the teams actually are. With 32 teams from each classification now preparing for Bi-District playoffs in football, it is imperative that each school supports their football program passionately. In my opinion, the two sports have always had some sort of disconnect. That is why I am reminding all soccer players, parents and fans to show your school spirit this Friday night, because soon enough the soccer playoffs will start and you will expect support. Good Luck to ALL this year.

Byrd 5 - Loyola 0 Many Loyola cross-country runners are also soccer players. I understand that they are not released to soccer until the state xc meet 11/13.

It's good to see the scores rolling in. But even with these scores, I insist I still don't have enough information to accurately rate a top 10. For one, Many teams don't have half of there starters. I know my team wouldn't have football or cross country players until the middle of week, even if the football is out the playoffs. It's just hard to justify true meaning to a scrimmage game besides getting players and getting ready for the regular season. I agree... I am currently missing 11 varsity members between football and cross country. I am playing a scrimmage tomorrow against Westminster missing all of these players, so I am basically playing a JV, with a few varsity members against these teams. Everyone is in some kind of player shortage right now. Cross Country needs to start earlier and end when Soccer starts since it is usually made up of a lot of soccer players. 2 weeks earlier would do it... even just one week. xc workouts start the first week in August. What is your proposed start date? Seems like last year there was a one week overlap with the two seasons yet this year there are two. Did the start date for soccer get moved to an earlier date?

Acadiana 2 Teurlings 1 Acadiana pretty much dominated the game and was up 2-0. Teurlings had like 2 or 3 shots at the most. Acadiana gave up an own goal. good game but was not an own goal, it was never touched by an ahs player on a corner until the defender tried to kick it out... ahs will be good this year I was at the game, it was an own goal. Teurlings lost a lot from last year. They have some work to do.

The first meet that our guys ran this year was Sept 8...if you start running meets a little earlier (a week), it would make a huge difference having your guys back a week earlier to prepare for the first real games of the season instead of running in the state meet on Tuesday and playing a real game on Thursday.

I was at the game also and it was not an own goal. The defender tried to clear it after it had crossed the line.

Jesuit kicks off their season this week-end at St. Paul's in a rematch of last season's championship game. The game will be played at St. Paul's on the new turf.
Anyone have any thoughts on how this one will end up?
Also next Saturday the Jays have Acadiana on tap, who beat Teurlings 2-1 already this season.
Even though it is a long season, and it doesn't matter where your team starts, only where they finish, these two games should be a good early indication of how three of the top teams in Division I look.

Acadiana looked very good against Teurlings. TCH still missing 3 starters due to football & cross country. Watch for Acadiana this year......loaded with talent & experience
