These D1 rankings look pretty good given the limited play so far, and I've got no argument with any of it. Repeat - I'm not complaining at all. But Timaeus I'm just curious to know - could you list the communities in which the 10 voters live? I think it would be helpful to all to know the distribution of the voters in case future polls might seem out of whack to some.

Perhaps--not much of an arguement from me. I'm kind of surprised myself at the will of the voters. I think the high expectations for EA, followed by the surprising result against McKinley (6-3 win) is what hurt them, while St Amant's close match vs D3 #3 Episcopal, and win vs D2 #3 St Micheals(missing players notwithstanding) looked better to some of the voters. Regardless, its early and the rankings dont mean much now. Over the next two weeks tournament play will give all of us a better look at all the teams. Our team isnt focused on rankings right now--we just want to continue to improve--taking it one game and one day at a time.

How does Rummel fall after winning 2 and drawing 1 and St Pauls fall behind Brother Martin after a tie at Brother Martin.

Also, St Pauls shouldnt fall behind Brother Martin because BroMart tied Fontainebleau earlier too

Surprised to see Acadiana getting first place votes, Jesuit seemed to be the better team throughout the match.

St. Mike's got tore up by East Ascension this evening. I doubt that St. Mike's should even be in the top 10 right now.............having seen St. Mikes' play Dutchtown, St. Amant and EA, this evening, there is no doubt that EAHS is on fire. Super strong midfield and attack. St. Mike's had a few great looks at goal but came up empty. EA, on the other hand, shelled them ALL night!

A key difference is that East Ascension is in Division I while St. Michael is in Division II. EA would probably be a top 2 or 3 team in DII.

NOT much difference - EA was a Division II team last year and did not see any increase in "student body number" since last season! The difference is LHSAA lowering the cut off number to mark the difference between 4A and 5A. East Ascension will still be one of the smallest 5A school for the next few years, at least until some redistricting take place in Ascension Parish!

I never understand why St. Fred is ranked so low. They were a legitimate Top 8 team last year in DIII. Unless they lost a bunch of seniors, they should rank much higher along with St. Michael or Tara. Please don't tell me that DII is stronger than DIII.... Here is another school worthy of consideration: Northlake Christian (DIII). They tied Ponchatoula and Slidell. I saw them two years ago in the playoffs, and they had a huge heart. I ranked them in pre-season and nothing materialized last year. Is this their year?

I think the rankings for D1 are as close as anyone can tell so far this season. Only time will tell if anyone deserves better.

As far as I know, Holy Cross (#10) hasn't played. DeRidder is 0-2. We'll see how good St. Fred are this year. I think they will end up higher....
