Since it's not appropriate to discuss this game on Rankings Thread.... Questionable game changing calls in both of Shreve's ties against Rummel and University however I am curious which play you are talking about in terms of the University game. Yes, the officiating wasn't the best, but the "game chaning callS?" Are you talking about two PKs? Or other calls in general? What about one of your players' "football tackle?" I thouht he deserved a straight red, and that WAS a game chaning non-call, though he received a yellow. I am just curious. By the way, I liked the game summary provided on your teamz site.

Was down in BR to see the LSU football game and had a chance to see the Shreve - University match on Saturday. Missed the blocked pk and saw the Shreve goal as were were walking up. I agree with flat3 that I didn't see any "game changing" calls, more noncalls. The pk that was called late may or may not have been called by some referees, but it was and they tied the match. There were cheap shots by both teams from behind in the second half on the parents side that deserved yellow cards.
Both teams had chances for goals in the second half, but couldn't put it in. I know Shreve felt like they let one get away and I'll bet the UHigh players and coaches did as well. All in all Shreve got what they wanted out of the tournament with the exception of breaking bracket. Good experience for a very young Shreve team.

Ok, first of all the first Pk was b/c our defender picked it up in the box so that doesn't count and the second one was a fluke...the ref smiled everytime our team got fouled and i am nopt just saying that....they had like no shots on goal and we dominated them but with the weather any team can beat any team so the score was not like the game...not bragging but we should have killed them

Saw shreve play rummel thought they did OK, been in several games we should have won. You didn't get it done. Take the responsibility and get better. If you score 5 goals the ref's can't give the other team 5.

The score should have been 1-0. The first PK was a reasonable call but everyone on that field thought the referee blew his whistle so our defender picked it up. That was reasonable. But the second one was an awful call. Our midfielder went to clear it out and another player went shoulder to shoulder with him and the ref called it on our player. Our player got all ball. The ref then proceeded to laugh about this call. Previously in the game the ref tripped me (I assume unintentionally) and then started laughing about it. This is something no ref should do ever. Also in the Rummel game our player was ejected with a straight red on a tackle that opposing players didn't even think was a foul, nevertheless a straight red.

well my brother posted that other one, and that "football" tackle your talking about was far from it, u must not have been watching the game, it was a complete 50/50 ball, and the University players were all over our players and im pretty sure the ref was handing out cards to my team. The ref for the University game was probably the worst ref ive ever played with not only did he laugh when he gave them a PK for one of my players kicking the ball out ( not my Pk when i caught it in the box) but he tripped one of our players on the field, so he says it wasnt intentional, y did he sit there and laugh about it, that game was no where near what it should have been and anyone watching/ playing should agree. Im sorry you feel that way flat3 but your wrong

Neither team played very well. The weather was a big factor for both teams, and each team had their chances. If U-high makes their first pk the score is 2-1. Shreve has a lot of talent and they took some good shots, but none of them were really a threat. Our starting goalie is in Europe so i think he would have made a larger impact. Despite that Shreve seemed to build up well during the first half, creating some nice ball movement but it didn't amount to anything except one goal. I thought it was a good game and i had fun at the tournament and i liked playing agains 3 5A schools. The talent pool is obviously a lot smaller at a 2A school but the playing teams like Rummel and Captain Shreve will get any team better

I agree with the ref. We've had him a couple of times and when we played tara one of our players was red carded but you have to take what the game gives you and play on. I never heard the ref laugh but i play in the back so whatever but you have to overcome adversity to be a good team. Mouthing off to the ref will do nothing espcially with the one we had in the University-Shreve game. He's a very strict ref and i don't agree with him most of the time but the first pk was stupid. The ref should've done a free kick for shreve. This may sound stupid but in a way im glad we missed it. It only seemed fair.

Ok, first of all the first Pk was b/c our defender picked it up in the box so that doesn't count Huh? Someone makes an unfortunate (stupid?) error and then it "doesn't count?" Again, unfortunate foul. As Shrevedad wrote, you could call it PK but you don't have to. I wouldn't call it, but many refs would. It was reasonable either way. Sigh. People get a completely wrong picture when they don't see it objectively. I happen to keep stats for University. There is no reason for me to get biased in # of shots/saves. My count of the saves by UHS goalie was six, compared to four by the Shreve's goalie. You wouldn't call it "domination." But the second one was an awful call. Our midfielder went to clear it out and another player went shoulder to shoulder with him and the ref called it on our player. You are entitled to your opinion, but it is wrong. Ask ShreveDad with whom I completely agree. One of the UHS players was taken down from behind, not shoulder-to-shoulder. well my brother posted that other one, and that "football" tackle your talking about was far from it, u must not have been watching the game, it was a complete 50/50 ball Yes, we must be talking about different plays, because your description is not even close. One of your players got the ball taken away, got frustrated, and tackled the UHS player who clearly controlled the ball. Ask your parents who were right on the spot. They were absolutely quiet when we yelled "Give him a red!" I didn't hear "A nice tackle!" because it wasn't. While I don't necessarily disagree, this should be handled by your coach, who can possibly file a complaint.

When I created this thread, I didn't mean to make it the arena for shouting matches. I was looking forward to seeing Shreve play since they (and other North Louisiana teams) were often discussed on this board. Here is my observation on why Rummel dominated University, and Shreve didn't. Shreve players would probably disagree, but let me do it anyway. Rummel played as a team, and Shreve was a collection of some good players, if not all (at least one player had little clue on what he was doing). One of the Shreve players (I don't say what #) got MAD at his fellow player when that player didn't throw in to his direction. He was a good individual player, but not a great team player. He and other Shreve players tried to dribble past UHS defenders, but they were stopped more often than not. You can win that way against weak teams, but not against good teams. In comparison, Rummel's offense was ORGANIZED as a team. They passed around, and they have a definite pattern, which is the sideline attack. Wet grass on Saturday might have been a factor, but I don't know how much it contributed.

A very good point flat3 Rummel had a very team organized attack and could move the ball very well, compared to shreve's more individual 1v1's

well i will agree with you on your last post flat3, we completely fell apart that game, we didnt look like a team or play like one, but you could tell and see it was not evenly matched as u said, and also you said, "Huh? Someone makes an unfortunate (stupid?) error and then it "doesn't count?" he said it didnt count to the fact that the ref was bad

It wasn't nearly as obvious as you think. Rummel vs. University was obvious but not so in the University-Shreve game. I thought it was a good game but apparently Shreve is just awesome and they played awful. I guess U-high got extremely lucky.

and also you said, "Huh? Someone makes an unfortunate (stupid?) error and then it "doesn't count?" he said it didnt count to the fact that the ref was bad Oh, I didn't realize that he meant ref on that sentence. By the way, get your own name, rather than sharing the same name with your brother. It's confusing!

One of the Shreve players (I don't say what #) got MAD at his fellow player when that player didn't throw in to his direction. Was it #4 perhaps? I'm pretty sure I was the one who got mad. It just frustrates me when someone throws the ball into a sea of opposing players when someone is open within 10 feet. But don't worry, we don't have a team chemistry problem, just a few kinks to work out and our coach was definitely on to us for that disunion you saw. You say that you can beat bad teams with individual play but not good teams. Well, that's exactly what happened. We underestimated University due to the draw with St. Amant and reverted to our dribble tactics. Another game against a South Louisiana team will not yield the same strategy as we have experienced the failure it brings
