Congratulations to the guys on the list!
I really thought Caddo would have at least one defensive representative on first or second team. I know these are difficult decisions...

how is only one goal scored on a keeper in playoffs not to mention only 9 all year and you don't even make 2nd team? chris hilario - most valuable keeper - should be all state all the way

No consideration for defender Jeff Bertel of Jesuit?? He was a very solid defender for 2 years in a row. He was overlooked again. What a shame.

wowwwww.....
obviously josey, julian or justin to me should have made the list, first or second team.
and what about Tarek Belamene? dudes a beast.
the funny thing is though is i expected none of them to make it. I told Josey earlier in the year that it wouldnt suprise me that he or anyone else on the team wouldnt get all-state, why? because were a jefferson parish school and no one cares about us.

I am sure it is really difficult for a coach to vote on players for All-State when they haven't seen many of the good players, but I was stunned to see the absence of any Caddo defenders or goalie Chris Hilario. They went 28-1 with only 10 goals scored on them, some of those with the bench playing, and only 1 in the play-offs. I would seriously love for someone involved in the voting to explain that.
It was really sad to me for that whole defense that played solid game after game, from beginning to the end of the season to have no representation at all on the All-State list.
Considering the record, the state championship, and the fact that they have many solid players, it just doesn't make sense that they only had 2 players total on either 1st and 2nd team.
Hopefully, we will hear more tomorrow about the thought process of those voting.
Congratulations to all who made the team! I know that we do have a really dynamic group of soccer players at this point in time in La. soccer and it an exciting time for soccer fans!

Congrats to Radi & Nick, you both deserve it. Great season for CADDO & all of N.La. soccer. Now you'll be getting some respect. I agree with soccrgsp that the CADDO defense & goalie were dissed by the voters. Time after time they shut down Woodlawn in the finals, and Dyer scored on the subs for CADDO and the goalie nearly blocked that perfect shot. When your starting defense only gives up about 6 goals for the season, somebody deserves notice. Not even a second team spot? Voting is not that tough coach's.

Irish Fro is right though, Josey and Julian should have gotten something, and it probably is because they are a public school in New Orleans. And Tarek Belamene plays for Rummel, not GK, bhssoccer. He talks about other teams too.....sometimes.

All State Process
1. Coach joins LHSSCA - receives nomination form. Has to decide who to nominate and send it in on time. If they don't do this then their players don't get nominated, UNLESS someone from another team nominates their players. (My personal thoughts are the MORE players you nominate from your team, then you do a diservice to them. The votes will be spread out amongst them and then you decrease the chances of any of them making the team. MAYBE you feel that your entire team should be ALL STATE that's fine, but no one else will, that's a fact. The coach should be very selective with this honor to give his guys a chance to get voted for. There are TONS of good players spread out across the state and they aren't all located on one team.)If you didn't make the list it might not be that you weren't selected it might be that you were not ever nominated...so we weren't given the option to vote for you.
2. The coach must actually VOTE when he receives the Ballot and get it in on time. In Div. I twice as many coaches voted than in Div. II and 3. And the numbers aren't that big comparatively speaking to the numbers of teams in the state. This is where the problem is...it's not with the coaches that ARE voting. They are doing their job...its with the ones that either forget or never bother to vote. I encourage ALL coaches to vote...even if they don't have players nominated themselves they can still HELP select players that SHOULD be on the team.

I just think coaches need to understand that voting for All District, All Metro, and All State is a responsibility...it's part of their job...even if they don't have people on the team they make it a more legitimate process.
I think fans/players need to understand that this will NEVER be a perfect process (my opinion). There are too many great players in the state and the coaches can't see them all. AS a player do not EXPECT one of these honors....rate yourself on the performance you give and the praises you get from those CLOSEST to you. If you happen to be selected then it's an extra honor...it doesn't discredit you if you aren't selected.
