Could we provide some incentive for the coaches for participating in the All-State voting process?? I mean...what does it take???

For me, its not about who's on the list necessarily, but when you look at this list, it just looks so unprofessional. If we were to go look at All-State lists from Texas or California, they wouldn't look nearly as bad. Even if a player needs a certain number of votes to be selected, don't you think we could at least complete the second team? This is terrible. If we, Louisiana, want to be taken seriously as a legit soccer state, then we can't produce nonsense such as this. Agreed, either complete it or do not have it all

all-state like all other awards are individual awards. so just because team has a good program and one or two good players does'nt mean that team or teams should dominate the list. alvais from deridder is from a small program like many others that don't get to the attention because of their school names. alvais is one of the best talents i've seen. deridder played against parkway and could have won, because no-one from parkway really stood out in the game just alvais. the difference in deridder and the big name schools is not the talent its the players mind set. deridder had 6 players that know how to play soccer on the field to to mention in 1 in goal. the programs problem everybody plays for their stats instead of the teams success when they play against out of district teams or tournaments. i've seen other top tier teams play and they have 2 to 3 good players but everybody knows the positions and they don't get caught of position on counter-attacks. deridder lost a few pieces of the puzzle but still have the talent to run with anyone and i mean anyone in state if they would just play team ball and stop playing for stats, defenders are defenders and not forwards and forwards must run back and help the midfield, mids must get rid of the ball before being trapped in the corner. the way vanderbilt handled beau chene is the way deridder should have made the change of play halfway thru the 1st half, get rid of the ball at mid field and let their 4 defenders take on your forwards and 2 offensive mids. instead they took the ball in the corner bringing with them beau chenes mids with them on top of their own, bringing the count of players in the box to about 7-9 which people like to call packing the box. if deridder ever gets its act together they belong to the best in state. every coach's dream is to have 6 or more very talented players on the field at one time, just ask them. talent + system = success.

The Deridder stuff never stops does it? There is always some kind of excuse as to why they lost, or why some player didn't make the All-State team. Who cares? Just play. Deridder was a solid team, but I don't think that they were in the top 5 teams in D2. I would put them around 7-8.

no excuses for deridder. it's just a fact that if a team with that much talent should not be over looked or not should the players. alvais is recognized on the fact the he has played premier soccer so many years and that everyone knows his name. but like i've said before their are two more sophmores on the team that are as talented as he is. sidney van horn is as talented as alvais is and the other sophmore is michael miller. sidney does'nt get a chance to get recognized by other coaches because of his religion he can't play on saturday, which means tournaments are where the coaches are and he's not. michael chooses not to play premier soccer not because he could'nt he just does'nt want to. alvais brother will be going to high school next year put him in the mix with jordan and sam and the stage is set. if alvais plays alittle more unselfish and michael and sidney play alittle more selfish then the rest of D2 will see what i know, top 5 easy. excuses no, what looks good on paper does'nt mean anything that's why the games are played on the field.

sorry but i completely disagree. i've seen most of these players play, and to say parkway has no standouts is ridiculous. the allstate was right on the money in recognizing their two best players, Ben Barcelona and Joseph Shreck. Both of them are more talented than any player on deridder, and yes i've seen deridder and the great alvais play. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that the only reason he got the honor, was for the very fact that you say the other players didn't. I'm not trying to knock Alvais, the kid's a good player; however he's got some learning and some improving to do before you can say he's one of the most skilled players in the state. put him in D1 with a quality program, and you wouldn't hear his name that much.

alvais is a great player, but needs to work on his game. he gets mad easily and cause it to play off his game and make stupid fouls

Whenever we played Deridder, Alvais was the only standout player that I saw. I didn't see anyone else on his level, and yea when he's shadowed, he turns into one of the dirtiest players I've ever seen.

Yes, Alvais is a great player, but has a lot of aspects in his game that he needs to work on.

didn't mean to come across wrong but i never said parkway did'nt have any standout i just said for that 1 game i did'nt see one person standout, but on the other hand a if i think about it the only reason alvais stoodout was like i've said before on other posts when he plays top teams he selfish and wants to be the man. true standouts like barca & shreck play team ball. as being more talented as any player on deridder i still say alvais & michael could have all the tools of any 1 - 2 punch in state. put them two on any team and they start. alvais is a good player but the most all-around skilled player is (my opinion) michael miller, i've him as a defender last year (freshman) win over 90% of his 1-on-1 battles. this year he's played stopper between his forward duties. his passing skills with both feet are right on the $ and getting under his skin is almost impossible,

lets talk about the list their are what 9-10 districts that means 9-10 district mvps, off/.def mvps. i know not all districts have the same quality but more than 2 should be represented on the all-state list (my opinion should be released b4 the playoffs). if u want to see who does what in the playoff then they should make a all-state playoff list which would then come out after the playoffs.

If the 1st team results don't tell you there were 2 superior teams in D2 i don't know what will.

As a coach, the concern that I have had with LHSSCA hasn't changed in the last 8 years. Quite simply, why should I have to pay $20 to join an organization, when the only apparent benefit of joining that organization is to vote for All-State. Where is the accountability for the funds, what pressing issues are being raised to better soccer in the state of Louisiana, what purpose and additional benefit is there for my school, team and players by being a members.
I firmly believe that all coaches should be able to vote on All-State regardless of their affiliation with LHSSCA. The selection process should be overseen by LHSAA as part of the fees for hosting a program and becoming a coach through CECP. The selection process shoudl be all inclusive instead of selectively inclusive. Sure, $20 isn't much, but I don't see the point in paying for something that I should be given for the hours of time and effort that it takes to coach a team.
I am getting off of the pulpit now.

I firmly believe that all coaches should be able to vote on All-State regardless of their affiliation with LHSSCA. Agreed. If the school offers the sport and has hired a qualified person to coach that sport, then why should part of that coach's duties require money out of his/her pocket. And if anyone can make a good argument that voting for all-state is not a natural obligation of the coach's job then please do. It's like teachers having to buy school supplies out of their own pockets to teach their students. Someone earlier said that the $20 went to buy the plaques. I think LHSAA should be responsible for that. And now I'll get off my soapbox.
