Wow ! Just checked the scores of the past season. To stay with Coachray's "glass-half-full" approach - there's a LOT of opportunity there ! Well, I'll keep my eye on this one for that "B.R. area rumor" and see how things develop. I still like the idea of keeping my money and my kids in my state.

I'm not trying to push for anyone to go to LC, the original thread simply inquired about a rumor that an area coach may be taking over the program. That apparently led to takeitdowntown bashing the whole school. I don't think anyone was recruiting him to go there, at least I didn't read where they were. His postings sure came across to me in B&W as a person with a personal grudge against the whole school.
I think this thread shows that many people in the state didn't even know that LC had a soccer program. That in itself shows that the program could use some promotion, to get players to consider going there. The school has a very good academic program and could afford a decent player the opportunity to continue playing.
Believe me when I say the coach I heard rumored for the job definitely knows how to promote a soccer program. Oh Yeah.

Let me reiterate the point. I am just stating facts. The program is no good. Just look at the stats. I am not bashing the program just stating the facts.
For a coach to chose that school to further his career is a very risky choice. If he does turn that program around I will be the first to worship the ground he stands on. Because it will be the biggest accomplishment in LA soccer history. He should get an MLS coaching job if he brings that team to the top.

How about we stop trying to build up a program at LC, an unattractive school, and try to start up a program at Tulane, a much more appealing school.

Bish, if you're going to hijack the thread, pump up a team that has more than one win: tulanegreenwave.collegesports.com/sports/w-soccer/stats/2005-2006/teamstat.htmlTulane beat So. Miss, but that's all. No better record than LC, but the opponents were surely tougher, and not living in FEMA trailers. If you're going to support a local program, how about LSU, the top team in the state? At least one third of their players are home grown, by last count.

That's Tulane's women's team. They don't have a men's team.
LSU will never have a soccer program. That's why. I'm not even going to get into all the reasons why. I say Tulane because it's an excellent school and is known all over.

Doh! We're on different pages. The LC men's team is much better than the women's team, especially with the addition of Lewis Lauve, former ASH all-stater. Still nowhere close to DI, or anything like that. Does Tulane, being a private school, not have to comply with title IX? LSU has a club soccer team for the men, but is maxed out as far as men's sports go due to title IX. They already dumped wrestling, men's gymnastics, and if they added a soccer team, they'd have to create some new team for the chicks.

And there's no SEC soccer conference for men either.
