Heard yesterday that Acadiana will forfeit all their games for using and out of district player. I wonder if they have enough games in district to make up for those losses. I think they were 4-0 in district and had won something like 30 something in a row. Too bad for the rest of the girls on the team.

Is this true? If so, wow, this is a sad thing for soccer. I feel awful for the team.

Supposedly she was reporting living at a sibling's home, but her mom lived out of district, which is the offical residence. Alot of finger pointing is going on, but there are two facts. 1. The parent(s) and the player knew they were out of district. 2. Somebody, be it players or staff with Acadiana, knew this player. This should not of gotten to the point someone away from Acadiana reports this. She in fact went to STM last year, and has played soccer for years at the rec and/or premier level in Lafayete, so this is not like some unknown person. It is an unfortunate situation, but rules are rules.

are any of those games that will be forfeited from this year, or just last year?

This year's matches to date with Sulphur, Barbe, Carencro and Comeaux. Not sure about non district games. They play 3-0 Lafayette @ Acadiana Friday night, so that could be a first step back into contention for them.
To date, this has not been published anywheres, but have heard it from Acadiana parents and LHSAA is supposedly in on it.
Also, was told the player in question left Acadiana and has enrolled at the proper high school.

She was a borderline varsity player. I don't think she played in the Caddo game. It looks like she played in 2 or 3 district games. Those are the games in question. Luckily it happened now and not at the end of the season.

This could actually work out well for Acadiana. The third place team out this district gets the easiest ride in the playoffs the first two rounds. The first and second place teams get the New Orleans route, while third place goes north. Just look at Comeaux, last year's third place team. Made the quarters with road wins in Shreveport and Monroe, and the other district reps were already out. Like the old saying, look for the silver lining

hey, let's not take shreveport too lightly. we have some strong teams coming out of our districts. now if they meet a weaker team, i understand. but don't underestimate shreveport teams just yet!

Not meaning to offend... but was just stating a fact. Comeaux had an easier time due to the path last year thru the playoffs. Historically, the New Orleans teams time and time again are stronger than north Louisiana. Just look at the divisional polls this week and you can see I am not alone in this opinion (which the poll is, an opinion). Maybe 5 teams in the three polls north of I 10 if I remember right. This does not mean a north Louisiana team cannot win state occasionally, but historically, the odds are elsewhere. I looked at the brackets for the New Orleans tournament and I don't recall any teams coming down this weekend from north Louisiana. And this tourney is much tougher than Lake Charles was. The competition is cross all three divisions, winner take all, and would be a real eye opener.

Who puts on the tournament you are talking about? Does it have a website?

But, Chromedome, realize the "north" teams you are talking about. Caddo Magnet, who got to the finals 2 eyars ago and lost in the quarterfinals last year. They were ranked number one in division I and overall. They haven't lost many players. So when you talk about Shreveport, or North Louisiana teams, realize that they are very very good.

i would also like to add that byrd has won some state championships in the past. plus, baton rouge high is ranked, and they aren't that good. i don't think they should be ranked at all. all they do is knock the ball long and chase it with their cheerleader, i mean coach, sorry, cheering, i mean coaching, them on.

since we're on the subject, let's look at northern louisiana's soccer as a whole. let's look at the last couple of years. magnet boys have gone pretty far into the play-offs, last year byrd went pretty far (not sure exactly how far though, and they should have gone farther if they had a decent coach), parkway boys went to the finals, and loyola boys have gone to the finals. as far as girls teams, magnet, parkway, and loyola have represented the north, no, let's say shreveport, fairly well. so, give us the respect that we deserve.

Exactly, one day, one of our Shreveport teams will win,a nd then maybe people will see N. Louisiana as being good at soccer. I'm fairly confidant that Caddo Magnet girls will win state soon, and that Captain Shreve and Caddo Magnet boys will get far in playoffs.

There have been some comments that Lafayette High should be happy to hear about the problems at Acadiana. Not so. First, we don't wish bad luck on any team. Second, if Acadiana has to forfeit some games, that will be bad for Lafayette High. It will mean that possibly Carencro, Barbe, and Comeaux will now have a win against Acaidiana, and Lafayette High has not played them yet.

Dear Soccerwatcher, dont mess with shiela, her teams have won state more than once and been in the top 10 for way over ten years.Even in a down year a senior coach who has shown so much dedication to high school soccer deserves a little respect.

hey, i don't just take random shots at anybody. i noticed her style of coaching, and it was more like cheerleading to me. i don't care who's done what in the past. baton rouge high should not be ranked this year. and i heard she has alot to do with the rankings anyways.

You have proven my point.... you can only name a few teams and in a few instances. Again, look historically and lose the myopic view (something I am working on losing) I once felt the same way you do, this team is the best, yada yada yada, because I had ties to it. But reality is reality.
The tournament's name escapes me, but is being held at UNO this Sat, sun and mon. 20 teams
