Woodlawn 1 South Lafourche 1
South Lafourche goal on a one on one with goalie in first half. Woodlawn came out on the attack in the second half, finally putting one in about thirty seconds before final whistle.

CHNI 3 DeRidder 0
CHNI scored three in the first half. They played quicker than we did and pretty much controlled the entire game. They had us chasing and forced us to make a lot of mistakes. They were definitely the better team tonight. Hopefully we will improve alot before we go to them in January.

Final Score St. Martin's - 3 Northlake Christian - 3
Halftime Score St. Martin's - 0 Northlake Christian - 1
Game pretty much back and forth.
First half game was pretty much played from 18 to 18. NC's goal came off a shot about five yards outside the box. Ball went through the keeper's hands and her legs.
Second half both teams found a little more attack. StM ties the score off a few give and goes to release a player on a break away. StM takes the lead on a through ball on the wing and some good passing around the box.
NC ties the score on a great finish from top of the box.
StM retakes the lead on a freekick.
NC ties the game with about three minutes left. Ball played into the box and the keeper drops the ball and NC player has an easy goal.
Both teams had more chances in the second half. It was an exciting game; especially the second half.

Another epic battle at Barbe Soccer Complex between Barbe and St Louis with Barbe earning a 5-3 win. St Louis is a great team, just a little over matched tonight with the speed and attack of Barbe's offense. This St Louis team prided themselves last year of going over 2 months without giving up a goal before losing to Newman in the Semi's 2-1 and Barbe hands 5 on them tonight. Two players from St Louis really stood out tonight in Nat Ieyoub and Missy Minton. All of St Louis's offense seems to go thru Minton even though she is the sweeper. She can throw the ball 30 yards and all free kicks/corner kicks are taken by her. And then there is Nat Ieyoub. I guess what frustrates me more than anything is that both Minton and Ieyoub both live in Barbe school district and Nat's house I can see from my press box. Nat controls the ball better than ANY player coming to Barbe (and this is a district last year that had Lafayette, Acadiana, Comeaux, etc.). Great ball control and foot skills and will score tons of goals against most teams. Pencil both Minton and Ieyoub as All State players from Division III this year. They are both the real deal.
On to the game....... St Louis jumps to an early 1-0 by a cross to an unmarked Ieyoub on the 6 that she puts in the back of the net. Barbe responses minutes later on a put back by Soph Ali Zaunbrecher for a 1-1 tie. Twenty minutes into first half St Louis scores on a corner by Minton that Maggie Laborbe deflects into the goal. Barbe scores minutes later on a beautiful kick from 25 yards out by Jana Barrow. Halftime score 2-2. Second half score by Minton on a free kick that keeper miss handled for a St Louis 3-2 lead. Tying goal on a rebound by Lolly Plummer for a 3-3 tie and then Barbe kicks it in. Jana Barrow scores her 2nd goal of the night for Barbe to take a 4-3 lead with 10 minutes left. Final goal is on a hand ball call with 30 secs left that Barrow nails for the hat trick and the final 5-3 score.
What impressed me most, besides a huge crowd at the Best Soccer Complex in the State, is Barbe's continual attack. Down 1-0, then 2-1, then 3-2, and Barbe's continued to attack to tie the game and then take the lead late in the game.
Barbe is still not at 100% and will be next week when they travel to Comeaux for their 1st district game next Wednesday. This Barbe offense is explosive and I am looking forward to the battle next Friday against SSA, Dominican, and Sacred Heart. Should be some great games........

St. Thomas More 3 Ben Franklin 0
STM dominated. They outshot Franklin about 18-4. Halftime score was 2-0. First goal came when STM player sliced through the middle virtually unchallenged and scored. Second came on a nice shot from about 25 yards out on the right that went in the upper left corner. Second half, STM only scored once, and I don't remember exactly how, but was even more dominating in the second half and outshot Franklin about 12-2. Several open shots just missed.
I would say STM got those premier players back that it was missing because they looked extremely sharp, moving the ball well. Franklin is still adjusting to the loss of several starters and a new coach who came in less than a week before the season started, so they should improve, but it was all STM last night.
Thanks to STM for making the trip over.
