Thanks Shreve Dad! I was unable to attend the game. I heard that the refs were very unfair, is that true?

"... the refs were very unfair..."? I don't think so. They allowed a physical game, but seemed to make calls evenly and consistently. St. Louis simply out-played Sacred Heart in the first half... really some very nice attacking combinations. Score 3-0 St. Louis at the half, I think. Sacred Heart came back in the second half looking much stronger than they had in the first half, and I believe had well over 50% of possession in the second half. However, they could not capitalize on their opportunities to score.

Congratulations to Lady Saints. It was a true team effort. I have to recognize the Saints defense which was not scored on in the playoffs. Nice work Ellen Landry, Cydney Chatters, Megan Manceaux, Laura Schindler, Alden Schindler and GK Rebecca Walker.
I don't think the refs were a factor at all.

Thanks Shreve Dad! I was unable to attend the game. I heard that the refs were very unfair, is that true? O K , who was complaining about the refs this year??? The girls havent even made it to the showers and someone complains about the refs and STL girls winning because of the refs. Congratulations to the girls and coaches for a wonderful game. What a way to finish the season in Division III. Lookout Division II here they come next year.

It helped McDonald to have Maggie Landry and an unforgiving defense. Landry scored a goal and added an assist in a span of three minutes in the first half as the Lady Saints cruised to a 4-0 victory over the Academy of the Sacred Heart in the girls Division III state soccer championship at Independence Stadium. “It was amazing,” Landry said. “We had an eight-minute spurt where we scored three goals. It was awesome.” After Kelsey Ellender’s rebound goal off a shot by Landry opened the scoring with 17:33 to play in the half, Landry fed Amber Doiron on a perfectly executed give-and-go 18 yards from the goal. Doiron never broke stride and buried the shot into the upper left corner of the net. Two minutes later, Landry chipped a quick shot from in front of the goal mouth for an insurmountable 3-0 lead. “They were definitely faster and quicker to the ball,” Sacred Heart coach Tooraj Badie said. “They were aggressive for the get-go. By the time we realized what was going on, we were down 3-0.” Jodi Chatters capped the scoring for St. Louis, sneaking a shot into the lower right corner of the net in the 72nd minute. Landry’s performance netted her the game’s Most Valuable Player award and lifted the Saints to their second straight state championship. Ellender’s was more than enough for the Lady Saints defense, which was its usual playoff self. The championship-game shutout capped a perfect postseason run for St. Louis’ defense, which shut out all four of its opponents in the Division III playoffs. Rebecca Walker was in goal for the Saints and thwarted the rare Sacred Heart scoring chances as she completed a run of four playoff shutouts. “To lose the seniors we lost last year, we lost our goalkeeper and our backline, one who was the state MVP, for those girls to step up and win state is just amazing,” McDonald said. “The commitment they’ve shown to the program is just phenomenal.” Equally as phenomenal was Landry, who is in her second year with the Lady Saints’ program. “I remember coach (Jason) Oertling telling me last year was a great year to join the program,” a choked-up Landry said. “I’m just glad we got to repeat.”

Lookout Division II here they come next year. What is really scary is that 3 of the 4 goals scored by St Louis were done by freshman and they only started 3 seniors last night. Can anyone say Three Peat??

not sure who was injured, she limped off player was Sarah Parkerson- probable torn ACL. She has been a very important part of the ASH team for the last 3 years~primarily on defense, but also on offense since she kicks many of the corner kicks and free kicks. She scored the goal against SL in last year's final & scored the game winning corner kick ( which went in untouched) against Newman to win the District title this year. Losing her definitely changed the chemistry on the defense as well as the affecting the focus of the whole team since they were worried about their friend. Obviously it took a while for ASH to get their defense in sync again. I believe this changed everything for ASH the first half. As ShreveDad said, they played very well in the second half, possessing the ball much better. I felt like the ASH girls had a great effort w/ losing such a key player, it was a heartbreaking situation for them. SL played very well & took advantage of every opportunity. They are obviously a very good team. Looking at their bench & stable of coaches, they could easily be moving to Division I next year instead of DII. Congrats & good luck to both teams next year. Oh, about the ref~ it was mostly consistent w/ a missed take down in the box that might have given ASH an early scoring opportunity...or not..SL missed their opportunity 4 minutes later w/ a take down in the box that looked less obvious. On the whole, the game became very physical...CajunRef...you thought it was physical last year ....it was more so w/ fewer calls this year~either side. I was worried about injuries throughout the game.

It was physical for both sides so it wasnt like the ref was being unfair, the ref was incredibly fair and did a great job of letting the girls play..and from what i saw every take out in the stl box were clean tackles..just my opinon
