I didn't think he had the own goal. Still, I thought he was StM's best player that night.

Congrats to all boys who made the team.
Once again, remember... don't blame the process. Blame the participation. Boys side really lacks participation in comparison to the girls side.
Also notice this... very rarely, if ever, can you say that a player on either first or second team doesn't deserve All State. Most of the complaints are when a player is deemed to be unfairly omitted from the team.
1. Is their coach a member of the association? If not... what is the reason? 2. Did their coach (or another member coach) nominate them? 3. Did their coach turn in a ballot?
The voting participation on the boys side is embarrassing when compared to the girls side. THIS needs to change next year. Players... URGE your coach to join the association. Urge you coach to nominate deserving players from your team and district. Urge your coach to fill out their ballot by the deadline.
The process is only as good as the participation.
Stay tuned for some REALLY big announcements from the Coaches Association in the next few days!

I don't know if this is the right place to post this or if it deserves a new thread but in response to beauchenecoach.
Is the participation on the girls side better because they have more "soccer" coaches?
Is the case more times then not that the coach of a boys team is someone the athletic director or head football coach got to fill the position between fall and spring football seasons?
If that is the case the interest for being a part of the LHSSCA would be less.
Many reasons for prompting the questions with few of them based on any specific facts just curious. Answers could also explain LHSAA decisions that are seen as having a negative impact on soccer.

Answers could also explain LHSAA decisions that are seen as having a negative impact on soccer. You bring up some good points. But... All of the coaches that I know of that are just "fill in" soccer coaches would still want their kids to be honored if they so deserve. I do think that some of them would even want the kids in their district from other teams to be honored, or kids from teams that they have played during the season. By being a member, they can help honor all of those young men. A kid that is not nominated... has a ZERO percent chance of being on the All State team. One issue is getting the message out to these "fill in" coaches. A lot players get on this board for teams who may have a coach such as this... a coach who knows nothing about this board or the coaches association. That is why I am asking for players to URGE their coach to join the association. Very simple to do so. I will attempt to help the association increase the boys membership as much as possible... through emails and trying to expand the database on who the boys coaches are at each school. Good luck to me, eh? Especially with turnover each season. I don't know if I agree with your statement that the girls side has more "soccer" coaches. You could be correct, but I still think that getting the information to the boys coaches is the most important thing that we can do right now. The best way that I can defend this process is to use this as an example... If a coach does not go to the All District or All Metro/Parish selection meeting (we've all it seen it happen at one time or another)... will their players be represented to the best of their ability? Will their efforts be awarded if there is no one at the meeting to represent their efforts? Probably not in most cases. Now take that talent pool and multiply it several times to represent the best of the respective division. Who is going to represent the player in that selection process?

Congrats to all chosen for the Division II All-State team. Looks like an excellent team was selected. All are deserving. The MVP is very well deserved. Certainly an improvement over last year. Good job coaches.
