In the past, the moderators of this board have deleted threads (or posts) if they felt that they were personal attacks. I can understand that, since there really is no due process on this board for those being attacked. Now, I am not saying that they should have deleted that thread or not, just noting what they have done in the past.

I have the nerve. No personal attacks are permitted on this board. Call or write a letter to his school if you wish.

This board can not do anything to the coach, write a letter to LHSAA and his school if you want action taken against the coach.

Personal attack? From what I heard, this coach did something that deserves serious investigation...
Shocked at the story I just heard from a spectator at the games yesterday. SHOCKED

I read what you said happened. Then someone else wrote that was not what happened. We can leave the he said, she said thing for some other venue. Not here. If you feel strongly enough about it, call or write the school and/or LHSAA. The coach can then explain to his boss what happened. He shouldn't need to defend himself on a message board.

that process is rolling along....thanks for advice...still disagree with you..the saints went 12-0 and someone said they are a joke of a team..do u believe it becasue they are cowboys fans?? i never said any he said she said....ive tried to keep it respectable....but i guess that isnt good enough...and he SHOULD have to come on here and defend himself...And if you want to clarify..i would love to meet with you and Ill bring the Vande coach and the St Martins coach and the ASH coach and Ill bring that STL dad who said it didnt happen...we all can grab lunch and she what happens. I agrre with monitoring this board, but i think this time you are wrong to do so..people need to know the truth..

Really, I bet he doesn't even get on this site. Why should a coach have to defend himself on a soccer board? Just curious.

I am very disturbed that this sort of episode happened under any circumstances. I cannot fathom any possible scenario that justifies the incident--in ANY CASE. I was not at the game, but got the report of the incident from a parent of a 95 ODP player who was at pool training for their trip next weekend to South Carolina for a regional event. What many folks here may not know is that the 92, 93, and 95 ODP boys were at Moore Park training while this took place, and the incident has now been viewed up close by 3 of the states young elite teams and thier parents--this is not some random low level incident. The version I was given by the parent was similar to what capitalcityboy reported.
I feel like this forum was established to help further the positive aspects of this great sport in our state and to provide an avenue for more information to be exchanged for all who are involved in soccer in LA. Reporting a factual incident taking place is NOT a personal attack. Perhaps more ambiguity could have been used when describing the dialog that was exchanged, but making others aware of this incident is important to help further the quality and class of our game.
I have no idea what Coach Oertling does within the confines of his own teams play or practice sessions, and I dont have an opinion of his personal relationships on and off the field with his players and their parents. None of that is pertinent to the incident at the Copa. That being said, when he, or any other coach steps into the public domain that is a HS sporting event, there is a responsibility of that coach to act in a professional manner, with dignity, as a positive role model for the players he is in charge of, and as a quality representative of his teams school. I dont see where that took place at all in this case, and his behavior was abhorrent and completely uncalled for. If he behaved that way in a classroom, or at any other job, he would be immediately dismissed.
I am not calling for Coach Oertlings dismissal. I am however, encouraging everyone who witnessed the event first hand to contact St Louis HS principal and go on record as to thier observations. Any ejection MUST be documented and a report made to LHSAA within 24 hrs as per LHSAA rules, and this report must be signed by the schools principal. He will be held accountable for his actions in some way, and probably moreso and more properly if those who witnessed it report it to the authorities who are ultimately responsible for this coaches behavior, rather than just sit on your hands and complain about it on LAPrep.
Coach Oertling does occasionally post on LAPrep (he goes by the name lashowcase) and I personally feel that a public apology for his actions IS warranted, or at least a written apology to Chad Vidrine and Beau Chene HS for his behavior at BC's tournament. Without something to that nature, I would then also encourage all coaches who have teams planning to attend the LA Showcase to re-examine their commitment to supporting this kind of behavior by supporting Coach Oertlings tournament. I dont know how many coaches and programs would have the stones to pull out of the tournament as an response to an incident that once again gives the "soccerhaters" in this state more ammunition, but I would hope some exhibit that kind of character.

STL18....if anyone else in the state did that in any other profession, or in any other sport, they would be dismissed...your handle makes me think you are a Player at StL. I am so sorry that you all had to deal with that. It is not right...he left yall hanging out to dry. in a great 0-0 semi final...that is in no way to act and i think you know that is a correct statement. A leader of young minds does not act like that...NO MATTER WHAT PREVOKES HIM!! NEVER...Being stripped from coaching resposibilities might be a correct recourse from this situation....

Hold up! This coach is also the A.D. at the school? How does he judge the actions of the coaches he hires and works with? Not sure what kind of Catholic example this is setting?

Thanks Coach Ray.....finally...Shrevedad??? any response? Three things: 1) What you accused him of saying may or may not have been said. I heard both sides. Hence the possible slander and therefore the removal of that thread. Stick to the undeniable facts and you would most likely be fine. 2) Coach Ray is a very smart man. Do as he says. 3) Concerning red cards. Up here all red cards are reported to the principal of the school involved and to the LHSAA. I would hate to see this tournament get in trouble for not following LHSAA guidelines when it comes to reporting these incidents.
