Anyone hear about the 3 year old at Tee Ma's Day Care and Flower Barn in Bunkie. Heard she can dribble with either foot at full speed and the private schools are already recruting her... LOL , wow aliceshoe1 I missed this post somehow. Absolutely perfect . Yes, Yes, I was just at my neice's 4-5 year old game and there was this little 4 year old that was amazing! Unbelievable speed with the ball - the huddle would form and then boom - like a rocket she came out with blazing speed (and the ball 9 times out of 10). I over heard the parents saying that she is already a player on the JV team at the high school - unbelievable, she may skip high school all together and go to a junior college for 4 years prior to going to a Div I school ............................................LOL ............ now if they can just break her of 2 things, she is destined: 1) Stop drippling the ball all the way till you hit the net with your body, and 2) Know which goal is yours

Pope John Paul II tournament results
PJP II 1 Northlake Christian 2
PJP II 1 Lusher 2
again nothing against these two teams . Lusher and Northlake are strong teams but PJP II was missing 2 starters. And for all I know their teams could have been missing starters. I hope this gives you an idea of where PJP II is at this point. Again we do need to schedule tougher teams because our District is down from earlier years. Thx for asking about Pope. The girls have worked hard all year and I hope we come to play tommorrow night at Northlake.

Ronaldinho. I agree Sacred Heart is class from keeper to striker. And yes the 8th grader from Lusher is special. So young buts plays with great maturity espescially around goal. Tks again

DHS does not recognize Kristi Joseph as the best freshman playing varsity. We have freshmen that can score on her. She is very, very talented, but come on.....no way the best overall freshman. You have a few tough, fast girls that show up defensively. It's not all about Joseph. And we do have a clue.....remember DHS won the matches..not Chapelle.

Her name is Eleanor Pratt, and she is a terrific young player.
Those 2, together with Brielle Bordes - Mt. Carmel -- form a very imposing nucleus for the NO Fire Club team [f/k/a Carrollton], and give us [BRSC] fits year in and year out -- although I think that Eleanor is now playing on the Fire's 97 team.
Club and ODP calendars differ as to age eligibility, and Eleanor also plays with my daughter and Izzy Gutierrez on the '96 ODP team [Angel plays on the '95 team]. They are joined on the '96 ODP team by Runnels freshman Rahliat Animashun, Kate from SSA, and a bunch of others whose names escape me at the moment, but I'm sure I'll be reminded, and will edit to add.
Bottom line is that there are some truly outstanding and gifted freshmen playing throughout this state.

I agree Chapelle Keeper has lots of help with her defenders, but remember that most of the game is spent on their side the field and even with the help she is getting shot on more than the other keepers.

Alex Gwinn from Thibodaux #4 has lots of talent for her age. Give her a few years and shes going to be one of the top in the bayou district.

Calvary's keeper is an 8th grader and she is very good. On the ODP team for her age group-not sure what that is she is so much younger than my kids! Great poise for her age.

My vote for one of the outstanding Freshman playing Varsity would be Nicole Megginson over at Dutchtown High...This young lady has been a delightful addition to the team. She comes to us with some prior experience but is still willing to learn more and put forth her best effort.
I wish ALL of the younger players out there from EVERY school the best of luck in their years in high school and on into their future. We all have our "Team" that we support and pull for and all have our "favorites"...but...by starting to encourage ALL the young girls who just start out on a Varsity team that they can have their name on the thread labled "Top Freshman Playing Varsity"...I think we would collectively see all of these young ladies blossom into great players.

Barnacle3...glad you started this thread. What the purpose of this thread provides is knowledge of specific players to the voting coaches for the LHSAA All Freshmen Team. It is an honor for freshmen players to make this team. All too often, coaches from the northern portion of the state do not know all of the southern freshmen players and vice versa. Without a doubt, these will be the players to enjoy watching in the years to come.

Katelynn Hunt (#1), Zachary forward was a true impact player as a freshman this year. Katelynn finished the season with 20 goals and 9 assists. Her creativity and impact not only made her shine, but made her teammates better. She will be an impact player for the rest of her HS years.

Baton Rouge HS had several freshman starting this season. Tops on the list was Maegan Guillory at fullback. Her speed and leg strength helped to squash many an attack this season. Emily Daigle also provided much needed speed in the fullback position. These two were a key part of what SJADad has called a defensive blanket at BRHS. Janie Ledford at outside mid also had a solid year. Several assists and scored a couple goals. Good ball control and a strong cross made her dangerous. A few others saw significant playing time, but these three were consistant starters and made significant impact to the team.

barnaacle13, I am confused. The term "defensive blanket" was used, who does BRHS play next? I asked a question the other day and still haven't received an answer. The question was, how many starters were missing when they played in the Carencro tourney early in the season? Because all I saw was a pourous towel at best. And I know teams can improve but a blanket to one district might be a pourous towel when playing a good team and they didn't play any good teams in district. Thus the term "defensive blanket". That is like me saying Laffy has a "GREAT KEEPER" because she had all shutouts and didn't allow any goals in district play.

okay now back to what the tread is about. Lafayette has 6 freshman on Varsity of which 4 of them start. Don't know all the last names (drawing a blank) but here I go. Riley (F/CM), Haley Laque (CM/Stopper), Alexia (F), Kelsea (GK), McKensie (OM). These freshman have pushed the Seniors and earned quality minutes this season. Most in excess of 40 minutes a game, some more. Has made this team more of an all around team this year. Majority of our goals are by those Freshman.

During the Carencro tournament there were several starters missing. Most notably in the center mid and sweeper positions. This opened the middle of the defense considerably. At this point in the season the coach was still getting a feel for who played best in which positions. Keep in mind the team is 90% Sophomore and Freshmen. Most of the freshmen were seeing their first action in that tournament, and playing a quality team like Laffayette that early definitely didn't make them look like even a good team. As the season progressed and they found someone who could put a little offensive pressure on an opposing defense it allowed them to play a bit more aggressively on defense. I'm not saying this team was on par with the Fontainebleau's, Laffayette's, or Mount Carmel's of D1, but they turned out to be a "good" team. They fell flat last week against Chapelle. In fact that game more closely resembled the early season where they struggled to connect and had numerous defensive breakdowns. Saying we didn't play quality teams is a bit of an understatement though. BRHS gave Mt. Carmell and St. Joe's both tough games. Did they press either of these teams on offense...not so much. Did they put up a good defensive front....yes. I'm not on this board to belittle the teams that have been knocked out of the playoffs or those who didn't make them. All of these teams and players are working hard and I'm sure all improved throughout the season. I'm just stating in this thread that there were 3 freshmen who made a significant impact on this team's run to the playoffs. They bowed out early, as expected. That shouldn't lessen the impact these players had.
