Wow. I'm still in shock. SPS dancing around the field.

I would be too. I just ended the longest winning streak in the country, chances are I would be streaking.

Congratulations to Adrian & the Wolves. They came out & played hard & were the better team tonight. If we had to lose, glad it was to you in this high quality game. See you next year!

Slow start from St Paul, great come back and solid game from Jesuit. I wasn't pulling for any of the team, just here to watch good soccer, unfortunately it was a very physical game, lots of bad tackles, pushing, shoving, very hectic and not very pleasant to watch with a ref that let everything slides until the last 15 mn when he finally decides use his whistle. Gives a card for one, not for the other and so on. anyways, It could have easily gone the other way. Congrats to SPS.

I thought it was a game of 2 halves. Jesuit clearly had the edge in the first half, but they were flat the 2nd half. Looked fatigued, lots of long ball and fewer controlled passes. St Pauls made some adjustments in 2nd half and could have had a couple more foals if not for poor shooting and good keeping
I thought the referees did a superb job, let the teams dictate play

Worth the price of admission. SPS was the better team tonight other than the first 20 min of the match.

Thanks for the excellent updates goalieguy & friends. I couldn't stay for the 2d game, but I hung around enough to enjoy the exciting and festive atmosphere. Sounds like there were many reunions tonight. What a great weekend of soccer in New Orleans - where it belongs. Congratulations to Sean Moser

Only a couple adds -- agree that JHS looked flat in the second half -- but that could've been due to SPS controlling midfield. Interesting to me that Jesuit's hard fouls seemed to energize SPS (and their fans) -- especially the one in the latter part of the first half that shifted the momentum -- ultimately resulting in the SPS goal right before the half. Very entertaining game -- a great atmosphere and showcase. SPS was simply the better team tonight.
PS -- Was also great to see that the D1 teams don't flop in physical games like they do in D3

There was one move that I was confused with... Why did hubie move cabos to forward? He was playing midfield up until about 15 left in the second half and when he got moved up their, jesuits flow of possession just stopped. Anyone else notice?

PS -- Was also great to see that the D1 teams don't flop in physical games like they do in D3 That got to me. I'm a D3 player, and I do not flop. There are players that flop, but to associate it to everyone is ridiculous. I can find many players in each division that do, so do not stereotype it to DIII, makes you sound ignorant.

Woah man no need to get your panties in a wad... He has probably been to hundreds of DIII soccer games, he knows what he's talking about. He was saying the majority of players(or at least the better ones) do, which is very true. You are calling someone who has probably watched more highschool soccer than you ignorant. Well played

Fair enough -- let's just say that it was refreshing to see a tough, physical soccer game without having to worry about whether the refs were going to get duped by the theatrics of a touch foul

Was a pleasure to view that game. Jesuit the better team, StP created much better opportunities. STP GK did not have a huge amount to do, compared to his counterpart.
I thought referee was superb. Brutal tackle near the end should have been carded, otherwise very high level officiating.
Crowd: I feel that size crowd really puts us (the soccer community) firmly on the map with LHSAA. Was wonderful to see such numbers.

Was wonderful to see such numbers. Those 4 officials from Lafayette are 4 centers that I thoroughly enjoy officiating my matches. They are 4 of the best Centers in the state and all of them on one pitch is a great thing. Glad Laffy sent them!

To M Unit, Goalieguy, and anyone else who gave updates and commentary, thank you. It is appreciated by all who couldn't make it, especially a young folk such as myself that is still under parental control. Again, Thank you and great job. Looking forward to a highlight reel. Man oh man what a year. Thanks, backline! As I often say, I enjoy "reporting" on the matches. Something I wish more folks would do for those of us who couldn't make it. So much better than just posting a score like "SPS 2-1 JHS." Big difference, right? I just have an old-school Bberry that takes *forever* to reload pages when I post a comment. So, I gladly handed the wheel over to goalieguy to steer this mothership to a galaxy none of us have ever been to before this evening! (And, yes, there were quite a few parents, etc. filming the match as they always do. Hopefully, it will be made available.) I was really hoping your mom & dem would've let you make the trip. It would have been great having you hang out w/all the LaPrep crew sitting up in "Sec. 208." But, you showed your true allegiance by representing DIII last night. Like I said earlier, I really had a blast meeting so many LaPrep folks this weekend. Y'all are good people! I also enjoyed chatting it up w/soccergsp & ConBad after the match. They are great! Also want to give props to all of the wonderful JHS Blue Jay parents I got to meet & hang out w/before the match. They have lots of passion, but also lots of respect for their opponent. Remember this night! It will forever be one of those, "Where were you on 2/26 when St. Paul's ended Jesuit's 94-match unbeaten streak?" M Unit

M unit,
Just looked at Timaeus' pics. Looks like he got you and lhscoach and the other section 208 crew pretty clearly with one pic.

I only saw page ten, too busy celebrating state victories with Coach Tooraj and Coach Al. Happyjack summarized the game succinctly. My Wolves wanted it more. Super job by the Lobos especially in the second half. For the Banks Street Bombers, time to start a new streak. Great high School season. See everybody in April and May at the Club championships. Yo Conbad, get well and good luck this spring season, we (your Gambler/Fire bretheren) and the Gators missed you.
