Lets not go back to the LSU season at least not for a while. Tiger fans still licking those wounds and will be for a while. I agree the top 4 can beat each other on any given day, as MCA has beaten each of them this season. Just because a team beats another team shouldn't mean that they move ahead of that team. MCA had a lost this year to Byrd. Dominican had a lost to Dutchtown. In soccer losses are going to happen, but shouldn't drop you lower than the team that beats you.Quality wins count for allot as well. Mt.Carmel or Lafayette should be 1st or 2nd.Take your pick. SSA and Dominican should stay the same. Only my novice thoughts. I'll save the rest to the old timers at this.

I don't have a lot of heartburn with Zachary being seeded ahead of BRHS, because as noted the match was preseason. Acadiana though was beaten at two seperate tournaments by BRHS. based on that I can't see them ahead of St.Joe's, St.Amant or BRHS. I know BRHS is a head scratcher. They've had me puzzled all season long! But I think Acadiana should drop down that list somewhat to maybe 22-25. Terrebonne I know nothing about, so couldn't dispute their seeding. Hahnville is a good side, but BRHS did beat them as well, so I'm not sure they are seeded quite right either. In the end, I'm really just hoping we don't get another Dist 5 matchup! Other than that the seeding doesn't make much difference in the middle seeds. They'll all be knocking each other out of the first round anyway.
My top 4 is based entirely on the matches I've seen with those teams, which amounts to one tournament match for each, except SSA. Mt.Carmel was definitely the stronger side (in my opinion). Dominican was second out of those teams and Laffy was 3rd. I don't know where SSA would fit in there, because I haven't seen them play. This isn't also to say that Laffy wasn't missing players in the tournament I saw them in. Their form may be very different from when I saw them. My top 4 would be Mt.Carmel, SSA, Dominican, and Laffy. Again I think this seeding is irrelevant, because likely these teams will be playing in the semis.

I still say you have Acadiana too high. I agree with Pompey that SJA should be in the Top 16 seeds. Acadiana for me would fall to at least 22. Hahnville may be a couple too high as well.

For full disclosure I am the Natchitoches Coach. It is always easy to rank the top teams. Primarily on the posts there appears to be less concern after the powerhouse teams are ranked with accurately ranking the bottom teams. "You have to play the best to be the best." The problem is exacerbated by the lack of power rankings for coaches to use. The below chart includes the common opponents (non tournament) for the northern teams with the projected ranking. Natchitoches is the lowest ranked team and the only team to beat Loyola and Calvary and to tie Byrd. (Only losses to Byrd and Mest Monroe this season) My Point: Some of the ranking coaches will quite simply use the posted ranking and off we will go. Some will do research and some will just throw the teams in. I submit that everyone has some responsibility in ensuring some facts go into the post. If you don't know at least provide a disclaimer... Either way we will play who ever we are seeded with and have a chance of getting through if we play our game well. We truly need a non-opinion based power ranking. Seeding Byrd Loyola Prep Calvary Btst Natchitoches 27 T 1-1/L 0-1 W 2-1 T 2-2/W2-0 Parkway 26 L 0-6/L 0-11 L 0-1 L 0-6 Airline 19 L 0-6/L 0-2 L 1-3 Caddo Mgt 17 L 0-2/L 1-4 T 1-1 L 2-4

rusty beat me to it. Natchitoches has had a good season and should be somewhere between 15 and 18...and for the record, I have no affiliation with Natchitoches!

How do you place Byrd behind East Ascension? Byrd has beaten Mt Carmel, tied Fontainebleau in a game that Fontainebleau was glad to get the tie (Possession favored Byrd with Foutainbleu awarded a PK after an unlucky Byrd defender fell on a ball that was otherwise no threat) and gave Mandeville all that they wanted. Byrd convincing won the Lake Charles Tourny and came away with no losses from Arlington. Byrd has earned the place right behind the cream of the top.
Copakid is absolutely correct Natchitoches is a quality team that plays hard and is tough to score against. Natchitoches should not be far behind West Monroe and not neighbors to Parkway. BTW, look out for the Airline girls if you pull them first round. Airline has some athletic girls that play tough and have come together towards the end of the season, Airline should be above Caddo Magnet.

Hahnville is one of the only few team outside the top ten that can compete with the top ten teams. They are stuck in a bad district and get no notoriety and when they do play out of district, it takes some time to get motivated to play good ball. I think they should be about where they are listed.
Just saying.

barcafan- I was also at the Font./ Byrd game and yes there was that handball , but let us be frank two of Byrd's goals were questionable at best. By building your case do not insinuate that that game hinged on that one play for Byrd to come out with a tie. If we want to go there Font. had 3 players 1 starter and 2 1st line subs out of town and I am sure Font. thinks they would have made adifference.. Just the facts because you are justifying your case on that game. That being said check my prior post's I believe Byrd could be 8th seed, but let us not be picky a top ten seed (with the teams there) is given you all respect.

Top 4 really do not matter and can be interchangable. If they take care of business all will be in semis....5-9 may squash those plans, each one of these teams can and have beaten or tied some of these top 4....Closely matched...Could see some surprises...

I agree with Barcafan and Copakid on Natchitoches, they could suprise some folks but defintely deserve a better ranking where copakid has them. Byrd should be above EA due to comparing the body of work of both and results in Mandeville, but I am biased!
div1coach222 - Byrd had some similar issues with some starters in Mandeville as well, but no doubt Font will be a force and has shown that recently. Thanks for the prior posts on the 8 seed for Byrd!
The top four are interchangeable but do deserve those spots.

I have seen both Byrd and East Ascension play and Byrd should be ranked higher.

talkischeap- the only reason I responded in such a nature was because the above mentioned that Font. was glad to get out with a tie and that one handball determined it(the outcome). If I remember correctly this infraction happened early in the contest. This game had 35 minutes in each half and believe me there were calls and plays thru out that determined the outcome of the game. It was a good game and all must leave it at that...

Acadiana High:
11 out of 13 losses came from top 5 teams in the state in respected Divisions (St Louis #1 in Div II, Teurlings #3 in Div II, Catholic NI # 3 in Div I, Lafayette #2 Div I, STM #5 in Div I)
Other 2 losses came from BRHS (1st loss Acadiana scored on themselves to give BRHS win)
Division I record is 9-6-2
A 16-20 rank seems fitting for Acadiana

div1coach222- I agree that the Byrd-Fontainebleau game was a good game. Look, it is nothing personal about the team or the girls. Maybe I am letting my comparisons to the other teams in the weekend influence my view of that game. Maybe it was the day, maybe it was the time of the season, maybe it was the weekend but Fontainebleau was not on par with Mandeville, Dominican and Mt. Carmel at the Mandeville Showcase. The other Fontainebleau scores pretty much substantiate the level of play that the team had over the weekend (especially the ties with W. Monroe and with St. Louis, both of which have decisive losses to Mandeville, Mt Carmel and Byrd during the season). If they have stepped-up their play in the later part of the season to earn a seeding above Mandeville, then the more power to them and I wish them nothing but the best in the playoffs. All the girls work hard and have earned the right to grasp every opportunity given.
It is hard to measure a team on a few games over a single weekend. My opinion was that Mt Carmel was a superior team to Dominican despite the fact that Byrd lost to Dominican and prevailed over Mt Carmel. Both teams dominated possession and dominated midfield play over Byrd. Mt. Carmel was a great win for Byrd but nobody in their right mind would watch that game and seed Byrd over Mt. Carmel. So, clearly the most talented team doesn't always score the most goals in 70 mins.

barcafan- again in your earlier post you in my opinion unfairly legitimize Byrds poll seeding on one play that happen very early in the contest and please remember Byrd scored late to tie the score. If you are going to do this to make your case please present ALL the facts not hand picking one infraction. You are right becuase of injuries and athletes being out of town Fontainbleaus level of play was as you say "not up to par". Maybe it is a good thing Bryd played them (Fontainebleau) under these conditions and circumstances. I might suggest to substantuate this comment see their record and who they have beaten since then.Adios

Div1coach222- Byrd's poll seeding doesn't stand on "one play" but a full season of play (not just a partial season). There is something to be said for a consistent level of play throughout the season rather than a few outings late in the season.

Pollsters got it right! I agree full season play that is why Byrd has been aroung 8 or 9 in every poll. Byrd good team, but because of week district and results from their schedule should not be ranked higher. Good Luck

Certainly the body of work for the entire season should be the primary consideration when seeding, but perhaps recent form will be more important come playoffs (see New York Giants)

freekick- I truly believe in some cases all about match ups. I feel if Giants had to play Saints they would have done no better then what they did earlier in the year. A big ole L. Does anyone know when seedings and playoff schedule will be out?
