Please PM me or e-mail tombush13@att.net with your team schedule. In an effort to offer more tools for tracking your favorite teams, we have implemented a Standings and Power Ratings GoogleDoc similar to what is found on the Boys HS Forum. This tool will eventually contain all schedules, scores, and standings, as well as LHSAA and flat3 Power Ratings in each diivision. These may be useful as another tool for coaches to use during seeding for playoffs. Click on link below for: I am in the process of plugging in schedules, which will be searchable by team, district, division, date, etc. There are still many schedules which are unaccounted for. In order for the standings to be of maximum value to coaches and fans it will need all schedules and scores present. I'm hoping having all of this information easily accessible will grow the interest and excitement on the Girls HS forum and in the games themselves. NOTE: The link should now open it directly in LIST view (and save you from making that change when you open it). If it doesn't work, just follow the initial instructions below.p_malinichLet us know if it's working.

We are still in need of many schedules to populate the Standings & Schedules Spreadsheet. Please take a look at the list below. If your team does not have a strike through, we do not have your schedule. Games are starting soon. Please get your schedules in soon! Season starts next week and we're still looking for schedules. Please take a look at the list above and send me any missing schedules you may have in your possession. This will be a very nice tool for coaches, players, and fans!

On the boys side, we've made solid upgrades to the reporting tools over the last 2 years. These upgrades have allowed for faster calculation and release of both standings and power ratings. This year barnacle13 has agreed to take the lead on data entry, enabling us to bring the tools to the girls side. So what will it mean to you? (other than a ton more data available):Yes, it will involve some change to what you've had in the past, but it should serve everyone's needs and jump us forward in analysis once we get through the learning curve. The past games will be used to generate standings and power ratings. The future games will be available so that you can view the entire schedule of a team, all games on a particular date, etc. Additional suggestions are welcomed! So what will it cost you?Get your schedules in now (see instructions at top of thread). AND Report your scores in a timely basis.

Here's a walkthrough of how to use the new GoogleDoc tool and the info available with it. If something doesn't work, message me & I'll either fix it or help you to understand it. 1) Click on the "2012-2013 Girls Standings & Power Ratings" link above to open the GoogleDoc spreadsheet. You should be able to access everything without a Google account. 2) A spreadsheet with 3 tabs will open up. As of 11/15, the link should now open it directly in LIST view (and save you from making that change when you open it). You want the view with the tabs at the top of page rather than bottom.- If it doesn't work, click on VIEW and then select LIST (instead of Normal). The layout will change, but don't panic. The tab names will show at the top of page & you will have a drop-down arrows in every column.
3) Depending upon what you want to see/do, go to the appropriate tab: - Shows Overall, District, and Division records and more (sorted by district) B) Schedules & Results - Displays all games. You can choose just 1 team by using the drop-down arrows and will see only their schedule (and results, once they start to occur). As scores get included, the winner of the game will also be displayed in the right-most column. C) Power Ratings - Just as it sounds. Since this is new to the girls side, I'll post an explanation later. We need to determine how often that will be updated, but that's where you'll find the latest information.[/ul] 4) Some general tips about using GoogleDocs spreadsheet (while in LIST view): - By clicking on the header of any column, you will re-sort the table based on that field. Click again to switch from ascending to descending.
- To filter out data, click on the drop-down arrow in the desired field & select the item (school name, date, etc.) that you want and all other rows will be hidden. Note that you can do this with more than one column at a time.
- Since you don't have edit rights, when you close the file or switch between tabs, any filtering, etc. that you did will be reset.
Final note: Non-LHSAA (primarily out of state) games are included on the Schedules & Results tab, but they are NOT included in any calculations of standings, ratings, etc.

We've added a field in the GoogleDocs tool to identify the home team.
You should see it show up in the next day or so in the column that currently lists the tournament names. That column will become Home/Host (instead of notes).
Please ask any questions you may have about using the tool.

I'm working to update all of the schedules to show Home/host team. This may take a few days to complete, but I intend to post results as soon as is possible. This tool should help to follow your favorite team. Don't get too caught up in Power Rankings, especially early on. These will take time to build any significant meaning, but will update with each result posted for your team or one of their opponents. This tool is meant to get folks talking about their favorite teams, and more importantly going out to support the programs by attending their games. The schedule feature should help somewhat with that, but watching the standings and results pages update should provide the most excitement early on. There's a lot of great Girls soccer in this state. Get out and enjoy it!

We expect to have the file updated tonight through at least yesterday's games. Getting schedules to him and reporting scores in a timely fashion will be a big help in allowing the tools work to their fullest.

Results! 18 games results from Days 1-2 have been posted to the Girls GoogleDoc spreadsheet.
Standings You can see immediately the WLT standings for each team (grouped by district).
Schedules You can filter for a team's schedule and if it's score has been updated, it already shows as part of their schedule (much more quickly & easier than the 8 pages where it used to be reported). Home team is now being identified and will soon expand to be reflected for all of the season. Please follow instructions at top of this thread to submit YOUR schedule if you haven't done so yet.
Power Ratings You can also see the first release of Power Ratings (since these are live). Please treat them lightly - not a whole lot of meaning this early in the season. No need to start debating those numbers yet.
Test it out! So if you haven't kicked the tires yet, please do so. A lot of training info on how to use is listed above, but ask questions & we'll help guide you thru it. It really is easy once you start to work with it. And if the data for your school isn't right, please let us know so that we can work to correct it. (We've had some issues of discrepancies on when/if schools were intending to play each other.)

Latest improvement to the tool... (again, thanks to a user for the question about making the change)
NOTE: The link above should now open the spreadsheet directly in LIST view (and save you from making that change when you open it). If it doesn't work, just follow the initial instructions above.
Please let us know if it's working.

We will be deleting the Div I-III Schedules and Scores threads soon. Please do not post schedules, scores or other info in those threads. If you have schedules that need to be updated, please PM me or e-mail me at tombush13@att.net. Scores should be added to the appropriate Week's Scores thread. This will keep us from having to search multiple places to find the scores for updating the Standings, Schedules, and Power Rankings spreadsheet. Also, as you have time, please, review the GoogleDoc and verify that your schedule is still correct. Follow p-malinich's directions above for filtering for your team's schedule. I am working through the Home/Host teams currently. If you see changes that need to be made there, please, let me know. I hope you all enjoy the GoogleDoc, but mainly I hope you all get out in this cold weather and support HS soccer.

I've already unstickied & locked your 3 threads so that people coming late to the party may still track them down & be directed here. Those threads are working their way off the page.

We still haven't heard from the following schools. If you have a contact, please forward our schedule request to them. I'd like to make sure we have a complete list of matches, so the standings can be as accurate as possible for polling and especially when we make it into playoff considerations and seedings. You can PM me or e-mail tombush13@att.net me your schedule and I'll get it updated in the spreadsheet. If your school's name does not show up here, please check the schedule in the GoogleDoc and let me know if there are any changes, edits, or updates. I've had a few questions about how Power Rankings are determined and how they should be used, so I'm posting up the calculations. This will allow you to see how results are impacting the two Power Ranking scores. As for how you use these rankings, I think many here would say take them with a grain of salt. They are simply an additional tool that can be used to weigh the relative strength of two or more teams. This in no way should supercede what coaches witness on the field of play when they go to determine seeding for playoffs or even ranking in the polls during the season. Nothing will ever be as good as actually seeing how the team plays. You should also keep in mind that tournament results are included in these rankings, which may have been played with a short bench due to holidays and illness. So the Power Ranking system is not the end all be all. It is simply another tool and is meant to get fans, players, coaches, etc. talking about the teams and going to the matches. When were the power ratings last updated? It might be helpful on that tab to list when the last update was, just as a point of reference.
