Thanks. I appreciate the score information. The following is strictly a general comment...
I'm tempted by Churchill... "Never in the field of soccer endeavor have so many games with so much action been reported to so many people waiting expectantly, with so few words..." Not one game had even an editorial comment about play except the Episcopal- game, and it immediately drew a rebuke. (No wonder people don't post about games.}
I don't think a single player for any team was mentioned throughout this line - covering two days and 54 games ... not by name, not by position, nor by the ubiquitous "number xx." Not one description of a single goal (except the Episcopal game), timing, significance, not one comment about time of possession, not one list of penalty kicks, or or or ... nothing about weather, refereeing, injuries, playing shorthanded, field conditions, wind, cold, gumbo, .... anything. It really is quite amazing.

I thoroughly read your post and understand what you said. Just to clarify my comments regarding the Episcopal game, I had no intention of deterring others from posting or reporting. It was simply a response and nothing more. I apologize to anyone that was turned off by my comments. I'm just used to contributing to threads on this site and take great pleasure in commenting and discussing games and events. Again, sorry if I cams across condescending or aggressive. Was not my intention. I'd like to give big thanks to everyone that contributed to this thread and informed those of us that were not at the tournament. Congratulations to Coach Vidrine on yet another successful tournament. You run a classy program and serve as a model coach to others in this state. Thank you for all that you do for this awesome sport of ours. Another COPA behind us with no issues or drama. Look forward to actually attending next year.

To clarify things... No game went to OT. All games that ended in regulation tied up is recorded as a tie for each team Penalty kicks were only used to determine who advanced after the game ended as a tie

Hat's off to Beau Chene for putting on another excellent tournament. Everything went smoothly from participants point of view. You could tell a lot of work went into the tournament.
Weather was a mixed bag. Very cold throughout. But the rain held off till the very last game (and then more of a heavy mist than a downright rain). Fields were in good playable condition and everything went off on time and smoothly.
Well done.

I suspect that Northlake will be the new number 1 in Division III.

Thanks again for all the parents, players, and Chad for the experience. No doubt. Always a great tournament with top competition. Congrats, Nick. You and your boys should be proud. It's a lot to ask of the players to play that many games especially in the frigid, wet conditions. Your boys stepped up; as did ours. Lots of exciting firsts for Bolton on the weekend! Thanks for having us and the opportunity to challenge ourselves against the top dogs, Chad! Another great tourney...and don't forget the GOODIE BAGS!!

Chad- Thanks to you and your staff for running another great tournament!
FYI- I did talk with my keeper and some of my players who were around the goal that was waived off, after the game vs Episcopal. He told me that he had not been hit by another player. The ball hit his hands and slipped through. I did talk with Coach Chris Stewart and he is aware as well.

For those asking for breakdowns of teams, games, etc., here are just a few observations I could make from our little corner of the tourney. Didn't get to catch any other games because I was getting my butt inside between our team's games to keep warm. Glenmora: A team with some promise. They play a very defense heavy formation and look for counters. And they do it well - They lost each of their pool games by a single goal. All 1-0 I think. I had them with 3 shots on goal against us. If my memory is not totally shot, I think it was them that got a PK against us early in the game but was saved by our keeper. I can see them progressing in the future. Episcopal of Acadiana. You can tell they miss their very talented playmaker they've had the last few years. (Wish I could remember his name, but I'm pretty sure he's playing somewhere at the next level now). Still a proud program that can play fundamentally sound soccer. They appeared very young so I think they may be reloading to get back to where they are accustomed to be. I had them with 4 shots on goal against u s. Opelousas - A very good team. There was really a back and forth flow to the game IMO. Our one goal came on a spectacular play where one of our seniors did a sliding toe poke of the ball, squeezing his foot through a very narrow opening two Opelousas defenders just enough to nudge the ball across the line. Game could have gone either way. I had them with three shots on goal. Dunham - Another very good team. They have a good combination of technical savvy and athleticism. Played us to a scoreless tie in regulation. They had 7 shots on goal by my count, a few of them very dangerous ones. We were able to prevail 4-2 in PKs but it was a great game. Westminster - Strong team. They had good positioning and good movement. But the thing that struck me most about them was that they were excellently conditioned after playing 5 games in 24 hours. They had fresh legs and looked liked they could play a few more games at full tilt. And they didn't seem to have an overly large number of subs so I think they are just in great condition. They put 12 shots on goal on us by my count. We kept it scoreless to about 1 1/2 minutes before halftime due mainly to keeper play but by the second half they had a lot more gas left in the tank than we did. That's pretty much all I was able to watch. Wish I could have caught a couple more. We could hear the Bolton cheers when they won their semi on PKs and could hear the Northlake cheers when they prevailed. Sounded very exciting but did not get to actually watch any of those games.

Thanks Methuselah for your kind words regarding Westminster. Our kids have really worked hard, and complained some too regarding all the conditioning that they have done early this season. I shared your comments with Coach Coon so he could share them with the team.
I hope this does not come across as tooting our own horn; its not intended that way, but I really want to praise our kids. What you might not know about us is how young we are. It really helps to have a senior anchor like Rader Massey on the back line, but in our 4-3-3 alignment this weekend we had 3 freshman across the top, 1 sophomore in the mid, 1 sophomore and 1 freshman on the back line, and a sophomore in goal (7 Frosh. & Soph.). Our 2 seniors and 2 juniors offer stability to our young lineup, but those younger kids have really stepped up and haven't backed down from any challenge. Very proud of all our kids.
