If you think that "no call" was legit, you are either pooping hash, or a Jesuit fan! But, before that, how about the Jesuit keeper coming out of the box, CRUSHING SPS's forward, AND, touching the ball OUTSIDE THE BOX!! That officiating crew needs to stick to u12 soccer or basketball, whichever is slower. Couldn't keep up with speed of play & was complete garbage, no matter who you were pulling for... State Finals should be in "neutral" location, NOT 2 miles from Jesuit! LHSAA, If that's your top crew, I think you need to be evaluated by a higher authority. Congrats JHS. SPS, you guys proved SO many people wrong! Beautiful season! Be proud. The keeper did not use his hands outside the box. It was a 50-50 and he used his head. It was a great save by the keeper.

I'm with soccerplayer28 on that call. The keeper won the ball fairly, he was a good bit bigger than the St. Paul's attacker, so it's no surprise that he went down like that.

No question the keeper did not use his hands.. That said I think he got away with the same type of follow through that you see a keeper get away with in the box or even more in the 6 yard box. When you leave the box and make a play like that extending your arms that would be a foul for any other postion on the field. The keeper outside the box should be treated the same. I still don't think anything would have resulted from it St Pauls had a poor night from set piece kicks throughout the game.

I have a really good picture of what the St Paul fans are saying was a foul in the box. I will post it as well as many others on the laprepsoccer Facebook page tonight

Man o man o man... It was a good game though. Could have gone to either team. I would agree with many that Jesuit was more fierce looking last night. I don't necessarily agree that means they are a better team. Sps has always had a more relaxed style of play. They don't tend to look uber aggressive. Jesuit did have the advantage on possession but that in reality didn't do anything for them because they were stopped on all run of play. Kudos to Jesuit for two good set piece goals and same to sps on theirs. It was a battle. Several questionable calls but that's usually the case. The only issue with last night was the missed pk call for sps. It was a bad bad no call. could have tied the game and then who knows... Next year, Jesuit will have their work cut out because they're also losing lots of seniors. Sps lost 14 last year and almost had that game last night without that past seniority. I say sps vs Jesuit in 2014 and wolves take it!! Good job boys. We are all proud. Slight correction - had a pk been awarded and converted SPS would've led 2-1 with mins left. No matter - agree with the 2014 prediction! You're right! I was thinking that pk was post jesuit goal 2.

State Finals should be in "neutral" location, NOT 2 miles from Jesuit! They tried for a neutral field, but unfortunately the Causeway was deemed too narrow.

I'd like to urge all of those who have been critical of the officiating to sign up as soon as possible for the next entry level referee course and join us on the pitch. You can find the calendar on the LSA website under the referee section. Clearly many of you already possess the knowledge of the game, what constitutes a foul, and should put it to better use for the game than just complaining and criticizing on a message board. Time to step up to the plate and put your money where your mouth is. I look forward to possibly the greatest numbers ever attending the next course!

Very well put...it always amazes me how many qualified referees we have in the stands. I took the course a few years ago, and it's pretty thorough. Due to the fact that I'm a single parent, I haven't put my name "in the hat" to be a regular referee - when my kids are a bit older, I will. It's a tough job. I don't think the referee had a great night last night, but that happens - there's no benefit of replay for them.

I will also say this the ar on the crowded side of the field had a horrible game. The game was above his ability. Or he could have had ties to one of the schools. Not to cause drama, but I "heard" that one of the ARs was a Jesuit alumni. Not sure which one though. Don't know if that's correct but I do know at a playoff game this year, an AR who was totally incompetent came out of the rest room after the game with the home team's tee shirt on. I saw this first hand not hearsay. Congrats Jesuit on the state title. Gritty effort to come from behind again this season. Oh yea, on this quote.... Wasn't this field the same width as that at Hunter Stadium (another football field with a track)? I would like to see it played on a larger field like Barbe's but I'm not sure if there is one with the seating capacity in the state; don't think LSU wouldn't have enough seating either.

The field at Gormley is around 64-66 wide, St Paul's is about 10-12 wider than that

Don't recall it being that wide, it has a track around it so that limits the width...unless the track is not a 400 meter one. I love Barbe's field, it's a soccer only facility.

The penalty area of a soccer field is 44 yards wide, you have 10-11 additional width each side at Gormley, so 64-66 wide. Hunter stadium is 15-16 yards each side of the penalty area, so 74-76. Gormley is thinner as it has the long jump pit inside the track, Hunter does not have that.

Little late on sending thank you for the broadcast. Relatives from out of state were able to listen to the game and were sending us texts during the game. As a parent, hated to lose to Jesuit again this year.Congratulations to Jesuit.Bottom line, winner is the team that puts the most goals in but it took till the end of second OT to accomplish it. Wolves will be knocking at your door again next year at Tad Gormley!

It's only about 4 or 5 yards wider than the football field on each side, and a football field is 53 1/3 yards wide. It's 65 yards wide at the absolute most.

I respect the institution and would never disrespect a referee on the field! They have my unwavering support. It is fairgame however to question a controversial no-call. Part of the game. Great game and expect many more clashes in the future.
