Maybe we should do it by decade.
90s, 00s, 10s
I'm sure some of the older fellas can fill us in on players from the 90s. I know Kreis, Jeanfreau, Henderson, Pate, Millet (the one who scored all the goals, not the one who said he assisted all of them, etc...
2000s should be pretty easy to compile.
2010s as well.

So in summary, since 1990 about 4 Louisiana players have played MLS or the equivalent, 0 National Team, 1 maybe in Columbia, and 0 in Europe. Stephen Pate from St. Paul played with Sheffield Wednesday if I'm not mistaken. Jose (Tato) Landano played in Colombia with Deportes Tolima.

A great player from the 90s was Derrick Thomas from Central-BR. Dude was Jason Garey before Jason Garey. One of the best players Ive seen in LA. Guy had ridiculous skill. Still plays in Baton Rouge as an amateur and occasionally indoors. Fun to watch

In the end, I had to go with the names that sounded the best to me. What an insult! NUFF SAID!

Not sure if anyone mentioned Jared Montz (mandeville) who ended up in MLS.
Also Anthony Peters from Baton Rouge has had a career in the lower leagues in America. Was on the practice squad for DC United I think.
Nick Chetta (st Paul’s)played for Dallas when they were still the Burn (I’m pretty sure he did...) but is too ugly to be considered the top 11

However, if this is Dock Soccer, where is BayouBurner and Bish? Irish Fro needs due HM consideration. Can kick beauchenecoach out the lineup.

Certainly we’ve had some new laprep all-stars to add to the mix; and maybe just maybe there were some glaring omissions. 🤷♂️

Look at how I'm calling out the coaches for having Byrd in the top ten! Ray still has quality post on this board every year! No one is "yappin"!

Who’s the fella from St Louis who was capped by the Rep of Ireland national team? Edit: Joe Lapira, remembered his name. That’s one who made the national team. I’m willing to bet there are other Central/South American kids who went on to have high level playing careers Didn't he win the Hermann while at Notre Dame? I know Mullins did while at Maryland. I am assuming they are the only two to win the award from Louisiana.. Here could be a deep in depth search- how many players from Louisiana went to play at the next level and win their respective championship with their club? Not the only 2....Jason Garey in 2005, Joseph Lapira in 2006, and Patrick Mullins in 2012 and 2013. Not a bad run for LA....4 Hermann Trophies in 9 years.

If you were filling out a roster with the top eleven players all-time from Louisiana who would earn a spot on your team? Mine would look something like this: Jason Kreis (F, 1991 Mandeville) Jason Garey (F, 2002 St. Amant) Patrick Mullins (F,2009 Jesuit) Joseph Lapira (M, 2004 St. Louis) Josh Henderson (M, 1995 Bishop Sullivan) Stephen Pate (M, 1996 St. Paul's) P.J. Kee (M, 1999 Jesuit) Dwayne Jones (D, 2002 Newman) Josey Portillo (D, 2010 Grace King) Wil Wilson (D, 2004 Central Lafourche) Andrew Tarbell (GK, 2009 Fontainebleau) Not 100% about the years they graduated, but should be close.

Jason Decuir- Catholic-BR '93. Did not move on to D1 college soccer, but signed with Howard University as a place kicker where he had a record setting career.

It’s hard to believe no one has brought up Scott Yerby CHS ‘93 & it’s weird that someone would mention Jason before him. Nothing against Jason, who was a good player, but everyone knows Yerby was BY FAR the man in that class. I check this site every year in the winter to see what’s going on with his soccer. I love this thread. There have been so many great players from Louisiana. Such a great proud history we have. Seems like our players aren’t getting overlooked as much anymore.

The fact that Shane Jeanfreau (De La Salle 1990) is not mentioned on any of these "best" players list is a bit of a joke. . Anyone who has played with or against Shane knows how good he was. He played on the infamous 1990 Baton Rouge Jags team that reached the National Final and was arguably the best player on the field (yes, Jason Kreis included). It seems as though these list of names on this thread are all 2000 and later. Anyone who reads this thread and is remotely familiar with Shane will find it hard to disagree. Put him on the list! I did. Shane was THE ANIMAL

Since not much discussion about GK’s has taken place. I’ll throw Jeremy Wimer’s (Captain Shreve ‘04) name into the pot. I’ll always remember the iconic Superman jersey he wore. Think he went off to Brooklyn to play college ball.

Zac Breaux- Vandebilt 2016 Josh Hughes- Westminster 2017
These two boys definitely deserve a mention for the 2010’s players.
