I'll do what I can! Is there a way for me to find his stats in detail? I have each games stats recorded but just need a hard copy of what I've sent in. Follow the link to the Response Spreadsheet at the top of this thread. You will see all games. You can filter for his team. Then find the occurrences where he was spelled incorrectly. Then give us date and opponent and we wil change it to the correct spelling. Going forward, please make sure to use the correct spelling. I promise to proof read more thoroughly! All incorrect games where the misspelling occurred are on 11/23 - vs NISH, Teurlings, Beau Chene. Thanks and here's to knowing your players ;p

The one thing I'd like to see cleaned up, and this is more so for the coaches/stat keepers entering data, is the players class and position. Too many ? on that list.

Are the stats manually updated or do they update on their own? The leaderboards get updated once a week at least. The last time it was updated is posted by the link on the first post. Sometimes twice a week.

Sometimes twice a week. Once we get to the point where we are near error free, we will try for more frequently. But generally there are issues that need to be corrected due to data entry errors. I try to update boys & girls at least once each week, but will also let amount of new data drive it. If there's not a lot that's been entered since last publishing, it may wait a few more days for additional data.

At the beginning of this thread, there are several links. Click on the one called Player Info Form & you can enter up to 3 players at a time to tell us their grade and their position. If you have more than 3, simply re-do the form as many times as necessary.

Leader Boards are updated.
I would encourage everyone to review their team's stats & make sure that they reflect what was intended. We had our spreadsheets get out of synch so I had to re-create several previous corrections. I apologize for the trouble, but please make sure your players are getting the proper recognition.

Here's what I'm thinking about stats.
I'm toying with the idea of publishing more frequently - 2 maybe 3 times per week. I know we're in District Play and your players like to see their names in lights.
The cost of that will be that errors will probably only get corrected every 7-10 days. That's where my time gets eaten up. Going through and fixing errors after Leader Boards have been published. The ones you catch right away are no big deal. Continue to PM those and I'll correct. But after Leader Boards are published, those will linger a week to a week and a half.
That way I'm not punishing anyone who is error-free (or double-checking their work). I'm also not punishing me. I can probably do the error-free updates in about 20-30 minutes. With errors, it expands to 2 hours.
Any thoughts?

I think just doing it on Sundays is fine... Sundays is the perfect day because it's the end of the week and no games that day and all of Saturday should be reported by early Sunday afternoon. It's why we do the poll that day also. But if you want to do it more than once a week... You da man!

We've been running Thursday or Friday of late. In addition, I'm doing the girls (on a different day).

What about Mondays? I do think after Sunday and Monday, Thursday is next best day as usually its after each teams has played one game.

Paul... Being the stats guru... What teams out there are not reporting their stats? Especially amongst the ranked teams?

More frequently is more better.
With that said, I guess I would need to know how prevalent errors are and how egregious the mistakes usually are. Doesn't seem like a big deal to audit less if we're talking about 1 or two goals off for a few players....or not a big enough deal to update less.

The most common errors are multiple spellings of names (or mis-spellings). Occasionally someone will still not put last name first. If the error is found after it hits the Leader Boards, then it needs to be corrected in 3 places (tedious). If it's caught right away, it's 30 seconds. The 2nd most common is confusing goals & assists or clicking on the wrong button on the form or over-stating your goals (awarding more goals to players than actually were scored). Same deal, if found before posted, much easier to correct.

What about Mondays? I do think after Sunday and Monday, Thursday is next best day as usually its after each teams has played one game. I may shoot for Mondays & Thursdays. When our games fall on those days, it will slide a day because my volunteer time gets consumed with our team on those days (stats, web, FB, paper, etc.)

I think Thursdays are fine. Of course the kids probably all want to see it as soon as they kick it. But too much concentration by them on individual accolades is probably the last thing they need.

This is unfortunate. You have a great tracking form and spend a lot of time on this and I would hope that coaches would take advantage of this so that we could have a true leader board. I do know that some coaches don't like to do it for either promoting solo goals or even to hide some of their unknown players. Maybe some coaches could let us know in this thread why they don't think the stats should be done? Otherwise... I say continued great work Paul! The work that you and some of the others have done on enhancing our website over the past few years is truly amazing! Thanks again on behalf of the LHSSCA and LaPrep!

I apologize if this question has been addressed in another thread, but I couldn't seem to find it if it was. Do "tie-breaking" PKs count toward individual stats? In other words, if your match ends in a draw and you must go to PKs to decide a winner, do those count for a player?

A pk scored during regulation does count. PKs in shootouts don't.
