Why is everyone ragging on Northshore so much? Since when did we get so bad? Our district is a pretty good district with good teams like St. Paul's, who we beat 2-1, Mandeville, who we also beat, Covington and decent teams like Fontainebleau and Slidell. When the stats first come out for this year, Acadiana was ranked 9th, and St. Pauls was 6th..... and we beat St. Pauls... so I think that says a little something for Northshore.

hey soccerla04. i don't think anyone is saying northshore isn't good, i just think it is the fall out from the 17-0 game. i'm not trying to start that up again. i'm just trying to explain why most people are pulling against you. i am a huge acadiana fan and i know ya'll are going to bring your "a" game to acadiana. i sure hope the rams relize that ya'll are a good team and they need to take northshore very serious.
i think it will be a good game.

When I picked Acadiana over Northshore, I was not ragging Northshore, but only expressing an opinion after seeing both teams play. I also prefaced my prediction with saying that it was based on Acadiana continuing to play as I saw them play last night against Catholic. What makes high school soccer interesting is that any given day one quality team can beat another. That is why the games are played.

no one at northshore cares that everyone is picking acadiana over us. its that no one will drop the 17-0 thing. its over. theres nothing to say about it that hasn't already been said.

27 goals in two games? Wow.
Frankly, I disagree with most of the criticisms of Northshore. Don't get me wrong--I believe good sportsmanship is essential. It's just that we are now in the playoffs--and the only option is to WIN or GO HOME. Are these scores high? Yes. But it's the playoffs.
BTW, I haven't seen any comments on the Lafayette/Woodlawn game. Why not? Why just go after Northshore? Which goal is the magic one that makes the team poor sports?
Again, I demand good sportsmanship from players on teams I have coached. And I am not criticizing Lafayette, either. It just seems that many have arbitrarily decided that one specific game/score denotes poor sportsmanship, without the benefit of having been there. (has anyone been tracking the girls' games? There was a worse score).
Of course, I believe it will be a much closer game with Acadiana. And I, too, pick the Rams to win. Should be a good game.

Taz,
I don't think people arbitrarily ignored the score between Lafayette and Woodlawn. Many gmaes in the playoffs have been blowouts and teams have scored more than expected. Northshore caught all the messages because they were the first to run up the score and even though you had Lafayette and now Newman win 12-0....you are still looking at 5 goals difference. Not condoning it, I am disappointed in all 3 teams.....I think the majority of the posts against Northshore were because people from Northshore got on here and said they basically didn't care. Abramson was weak and shouldn't have been in the playoffs. That's even more disrespect coming from them....I think that is what caused the thread to go on forever. If none of the players try to justify it, people say what they feel and time heals. When you start trying to justify, you are just adding fuel to the fire. With all that said, the horse is dead. I think the Northshore/Acadiana game will be a good hard fought game. I think either team will have a difficult time winning the game. Good luck to both teams, most of the luck to district 3.

Why didn't Ruston play Airline for the regional contest. It would seem to me that since they both are from the same part of the state they would have played each other, thus making it a regional game. I know that it was just the way the brackets were made but should the brackets be changed next year or should they be kept the same. Please advise.

If the brackets got revised, I would make it so that teams like St. Paul and BM or Mandeville and Jesuit don't meet in the first round. There is no way that N. Louisiana teams should play each other in the first 2 rounds.....let's be honest, there are no N. La teams left in the playoffs and aside from Caddo, most of the games were pretty dominating scores. If you had RUston and Airline play in the regionals, that means that one of those two teams would be in the final 8, and when they come south to play in the quarter final round, they will get beat 5-1, 10-0 however many it is or was. If anything I think it played out just fine. Ruston may have had a good year, but they would have been out first round again, if they played a WC from the south. Shreve and Magnet are the only 2 teams in Division I up North that I have seen can hang with the teams from the southern districts.

Last year Shreve won 2 matches against S. LA. teams and got into the final 8. This year no team up here was able to do that. Shreve won the district and had to play the toughtest team by far than the other 3 District 1 teams who made the playoffs. It wouldn't be fair to guarantee any region a top 8 spot. No team up here deserved to be in the final 8 this year. I wish they would guarantee only the District winners a spot into the 32 team field. Then have a committee of coaches pick the other best 23 teams and seed them. The top 16 teams get home matches. Have the first round end on a Saturday to allow for travel. It wasn't right that Brother Martin and St. Pauls had to play in the first round. By seeding the team, then your top 16 will have earned it and certainly you top 8 will have done the same.
