Best record in the state at 20-3-1. Lost to Rummel and BM while the goalkeeper and BJ, #14 were suspended by LHSAA. Both are back. Against Mandeville, # 14 committed 8 fouls during the game to constantly disrupt any attack. Professional fouls- grab here, shirt tug there, late challenge, not too ugly, just effective.
He and #10 (4 fouls) roam the middle, so you must go to the flanks.
Jesuit keeper, #14 and #10 are all-state caliber.
Their attack is pretty straightforward, send the ball up high to there 2 tall forwards who stay within 10-15 yards of each other. While one flicks the ball forward, the other never breaks stride looking for the header.
Can't wait to next year, MHS will have 9 starters back, and same coach!

You count the fouls?
I think BJ and the keeper were back for the BM game, also.

Sorry but you cant go by record because Caddo Magnet has a better record then that. Does that mean Caddo Magnet will win state....
The 2 players missing goes to show they can't come off the bench and perform the duties when needed if missing 2 players, my interpretation of this.

What is the excuse why Jesuit lost to Catholic BR?

I won't say Jesuit will win state, but I will say they have a good chance. If they are doing the flick on with their strikers, then they haven't changed their attacking atyle since last year. One thing you can count on with Jesuit, is that they are always hard to beat. It seems like teams are able to do it now, but it's only 2-1 last second shot, or in a shootout. I won't reference the Catholic game, becasue Catholic was on fire that weekend......I am not sure the same outcome would happen now, but it could and might. Good Luck to all teams left.

history, tradition, defending champs, class program that lets their soccer playing talk for them. i wish they were in the top half of the bracket. right now i think jesuit is the team to beat.

You are right goat, but I like them exactly where they are, on the bottom. Jesuit will be the team to beat until they are no longer defending their two titles. They are the champs and everyone else is chasing their title. I do think that teams around the state believe that they can beat Jesuit this year, though. I think the quarters, semis and finals this year are going to be awesome. Teams like Jesuit definitely keep the playoffs interesting because more people take an active interest in rooting for or against Jesuit than probably any other team in the state.

McGruff, you asked about the fouls? Quite a few CL fans there watching every Jesuit play. Who will take goalkicks. How far. How far are the keepers punts, or his underhand throws. How did they defend Mandy's one forward attack. Who does the right mid look for, where does he set up, etc. I hope they (CL) are not overlooking their next oppponent.

I was there watching the Jesuit game, who was the one striker, Nick Mcdonald? because he was playing way off on the wing.

MHS 1,
Yes, CL had a couple fans there to watch the game. They thought that Mandy would have played a tougher game against Jesuit. And CL's records not too bad either 21-3-2( loses to BM, Vandy & BF during tournament play, tied Mandy and St.Louis during tournament play)
Jesuit has a good chance to repeat as state champs but they can be beaten. Numerous teams still in the play-offs that can beat them, Laf., St. Paul's and yes CL to name a couple. But the teams will have to remain focused and play their game.
Good luck to all the teams.

If you really were at the game you'd realize that we went down 2 goals early on almost pure goalkeeping mistakes. Even after that, we had 2 really good chances that we didn't convert. Second half was alot closer, at some points Jesuit was struggling to get out of their own half. To me, BJ didn't do all that much. When put under pressure in the second half he constantly tried to clear the ball or pass but would just miskick it out of bounds. Jesuit will get to the finals because frankly CL is not as good as everyone thinks, but this time Lafayette will win.

yeah msh10 don't put jesuit in the finals so fast! while i do think they are the team to beat they still have to beat some real good teams like CL, cath. or acadiana! and who knows maybe even northshore!
losing 4-1 is a pretty good but* whippen, and if BJ was having a bad game that doesn't say to much for the skippers,(i love that name)
please don't put your own keeper down either! how did the ball get down to him anyway? remember it is a TEAM sport.

Teams rely on their goalkeeper to come off the line and make simple catches on the ball on crosses, not fumble them away leaving an open net.

i wonder if mhs10 has ever missed an open net. or PK, and if he did, did the goalie from the skippers dog him, or have you always played a perfect game mhs10? JUST WONDERING!

The keeper messed up elementary things that ultimately cost Mandeville the game. Maybe one mistake like that can be excused, not 3 or 4. MSH10 is right, the keeper deserves the flak.

well, then criticize him in private, or at practice. Criticizing a teammate on a public forum is weak.

man i'm glad my son doesn't play for ya'll. i know his has never played a perfect game. i just want mhs10 to answer my question. has he never screwed up, does he always play a perfect game?
one more thing, did the goalie have good comunication from his teammates. did someone call him off of some balls. ther might be more to it than just saying he was the reason you loss.
oh and one more thing why didn't you just score more goals?

Unfortunately, #10 is just stating facts. Mandy had no keeper to start the year. Go back and look at earlier posts. We had a kid who hadn't played soccer for 5 years, and had never played goalkeeper, become the varsity keeper. He dropped a harmless pop fly in the first 5 minutes and we'er down 1-0, just seconds after Jesuit crossed midfield for the first time in the game. Eight minutes later, Jesuit came across again and played a long ball to the keeper, who fumbled it over the goalline. On the corner, instead of catching it, he slapped it to a Jesuit player in the middle. 2-0 Jesuit. On the third goal, he left his line and charged the Jesuit player with the ball on the 16. Simple pass to the center, 3-0. Our keeper gave it everything he had, but it wasn't enough against the Bluejays. If our keeper wishes to keep his position next season, he will need to play soccer this spring and in the fall, and compete with our JV keeper for next year.

All yours, goat. I give up. I guess anyone who said that soccer is a team sport never played for the Skippers.
