If the weather there is like the weather here, it should be a really good game....field will be wet, but it won't be raining. I like Acadiana in this one.....and I got a feeling they will make a statement in this game. They have been a little scrutinized this year because of a slump in which they lost to Westgate and Barbe, but I have a feeling that AHS will open up a can tonight. I like the rams by 3.....AHS 3-0 or 4-1.

i like the rams 2 in this 1 but by 3 points i dont know. The fields are wet and the game will be sloppy. I know here we had 3 inches of rain in the days and if it was like there look out cuz you wont stay on your feet. Acadiana 3 Catholic 1

The rain has stopped in Lafayette. I think from hdkjga's post that he has a pretty accurate idea of how the weather here is. The streets and sidewalks are dry and the ground is drying. Should be a good one.

first let me say congratulations to the keeper from catholic high. he played great and keep the game close, making three major league saves in the first half.
this game was everything we thought it would be, a hard fought clean game that should not have been played until at least the quarters. the catholic fans were very vocal in a good way. catholic you are a class act. good luck next year.
as far as the rams go great game by everyone, you didn't get down when the shots didn't fall and you keep playing hard congrats on a very good win!!

I just returned from the game and agree with Goat's summary. If there was ever a reason for seeding the teams, this game was a good example. If the quarters, semis and final are anything like this game, everyone is in for a treat. It is unfortunate that either of these teams had to bow out so soon. The field was wet and there was a lot of slipping, but overall it did not affect the outcome of the game. The wind was much more of a factor, with the team with the wind controlling the flow of the game. The irony is that the winning goal was scored against the wind. I thought the score was going to be closer than everyone else was predicting. Outside of its games in Houma, Catholic played 24 games and I believe only once did any team score more than one goal, and that was two goals in a December game. The Catholic goalie had some sensational saves, especially in the first half when Acadiana had the wind, but the Acadiana goalie had some nice saves also, especially in the second half. It was a hard played, but clean game by both sides. On another night the score may have been reversed. Catholic should be proud of its season and the Rams should be congratulated on a great win. If they continue to play that way, they should advance, especially against Northshore.

This was a great game. I have to admit I was happy when Acadiana scored, but I started pulling for Catholic to tie it up because I wanted to see more soccer. Catholic plays a beautiful game. Tons of one-two passes, nice diagonal passing, really nice soccer. They were just really fun to watch. I arrived late, but it looked like Acadiana controlled more of the first half, but by no means were they dominant. The Catholic keeper is very solid. Catholic completely dominated the first 25 minutes of the second half and Yandle really bailed Acadiana out. He made some great saves. Some he was just able to get a hand or a finger on and deflect the ball barely wide of the net. It was really intense. Acadiana started getting some push with about 15 minutes left on the clock and was able to win some corners and get some shots on goal. The Acadiana goal came with 8 left on the clock. Colby Neal sent a beautiful ball to the far post. Goody lofted his header just over the Catholic keeper's outstretched arm. The ball came down parallel to the back netting. From the stands, it was hard to tell at first if the ball wasn't just rolling down the outside of the back netting. Perfect placement on the header and a perfect cross by Colby. Great goal.
Congratulations to Acadiana. And I look forward to watching Catholic again next year. As for seeding the teams to prevent such good matches from happening so early, I'm all for that. I don't think it would have prevented this match from happening in the regionals, though. This would probably have been the 8 versus 9 matchup which occurs in the regionals, anyway.

The Catholic keeper's name is David Winchell and he played very well against Carencro. Remember he had a shutout against Jesuit, Carencro, and Northshore. He has been on the varsity since he was a freshman and now he is a junior. Look for him to be much better next year and for Catholic to be much better next year as they only loose a few seniors.

That is good to hear. Winchell has some really sure hands, like he is using stick-um or something. Does he play select? If so, what team?
