My son plays for Mandeville. I thought we outplayed Grace King and were the better team. Center swallowed his whistle on 2 hard fouls in the box and gave an indirect kick inside the 18 rather than a PK against King, then awards a questionable PK to King w 10 mins left.Tough to lose on a refs whistle but I am glad for the Irish. We lost to St Pauls 3 times this year and they seemed a much better team than King. But thats why they play the game. St Pauls wins 3-0

St. Pauls wins.....but I voted for Grace King. A Grace King win may be the first indication that a paradigm shift in Louisiana soccer may be possible. This is the game of the Haves verses the Have something different. I like the different.

While I am sure I will be called out by ENGO 7 for picking St. Paul, it isn't just due to the many ties I have with these quality young men. They are also a superb squad (maybe the best St. Paul squad I have seen in my nearly 20 years in this district!). Grace King has played to their strengths and it has worked so far. It has been a dream season for the Irish. That being said, I see St. Paul winning 4-0. I am not knocking a very strong Grace King squad, it is just that the Wolves are really that strong imo.

I think your comment is a testimony of how close the competition was between a lot of teams in the state this year. It's unfortunate that a game has to be decided by a penalty kick or a penalty shootout. I'm not familiar with Grace King and will not pick anyone to beat St Pauls.

I just love how people say that St. Pauls is the winner already Grace King has a whole roster that of talent Hisham, Nestor, Oscar , Brayan, Almedine, Wilmer, and the rest are amazing player and if people cant be saying that St. Pauls will win you can never predict a game just like pro soccer any team can come and beat the best many small teams come and play an amazing game and grace king can beat St. Pauls if they try and give 100 percent this is the first final ever in GK history and im sure that these players didn't make it all the way here to lose they have the support in the stands the Principle and all the student good luck King No one is saying that St Paul's has already won, they are giving their predictions which is what the whole thread is all about. No need to tell people they are wrong for picking a team. Some pick St Paul's, some pick Grace king. That's usually how things go.

57% to 47%. I would say that being this is a 2 vs 8 seed that the Fighting Irish are being given a solid chance at the upset.

St. Paul's was a heavy favorite to win it all since the start of the season. If someone, at the start of district play, would have predicted that King would be in the state finals this week, everyone would laugh and say that they were out of their mind. This Grace King team has come a long way from the start of the season and their style of play is impeccable. I graduated from King's rival high school, Bonnabel, and throughout the years, King was always a talented team that had tremendous individual talent but never knew how to play together. What's different about this season for King compared to the previous five seasons is the unselfish style of play that they demonstrate. There is no one star on the team. Many of these players are on the same level and some are overlooked for not being "club stars." King is riding on a wave of momentum that will be hard for St. Paul's to stop. Yes, St. Paul's has a strong, well coached, experienced team but this is the Div. I final we are talking about and regular season or even last season's statistics are irrelevant. No matter what the outcome is this Friday, Coach Raul has done an amazing job with these young men and has created a top notch public school soccer program.

I do believe that having been in this same situation each of the past 3 years will, in fact, be a definite advantage for SPS. The coaching staff has learned from those games, as have the players. The "moment" that these young men are about to experience can be quite difficult for some to handle. Knowing what to expect and how to properly handle it is something that SPS will, without question, have an easier time with. If GK can settle in quickly and perhaps get an early goal, the advantage will be for naught. If SPS scores early, it could be very difficult for King to keep the wheels on.

Definitely agree with you on that point but experience isnt everything if you don't play up to the level of the match. For example, Coach Oertling and St. Louis won the past 3 state titles in Div. II right? You would think that with his experienced staff and with a team full of talented seniors they would have lived up to the hype and easily slid into the finals. But Lusher, with not that much playoff experience, stunned St. Louis. It just goes to show that with leadership and a heavy-hearted, hardworking team, you can beat odds. But I completely agree that if King scores first. St. Paul's definitely will have something to worry. However is SPS scores first, all the pressure will be on King. Let's just hope that King's back-line isn't jittery at game-time and quickly adapts to the speed of St. Paul's game.

If Lusher and St. Louis had met in finals, it would have been a different game. Possibly same result, but a different game.

I see this game going two ways. Way 1: St. Paul's 5-0 Way 2: Grace King in pks IMO, St. Paul's is too strong for King. Don't get me wrong all you King bandwagon fans. I'm a product of a Jefferson Parish public school, so i'm always rooting for a JP public school to shine. But I just don't see this as a good match up for King. But you never know, nobody thought East Jeff would beat Karr in the Dome, but we clawed our way to victory. Warrior Pride! Luckily for all you 4A private/catholic schools y'all were placed in the kiddies bracket
