Dear Coaches, please make sure you have turned in all outstanding pay sheets for regular season & play offs. There are quite a number of unpaid refs out there. Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

I ran into a ref the other night that is still waiting on pay from last season and several this season. They keep getting the excuse that it’s the school administrations problem and no the coach. It might be a great idea to follow up to make sure the ref’s are paid. I sure wouldn’t want an unpaid ref that may have a little frustration in the back of his mind officiating my game. Just curious....who is in charge of the ref’s in Louisiana? Do they not have a centralized pay system to monitor funds?

Unfortunately there are some schools who are very slow. I did work at a school last year that took forever and a day - learned my lesson, won't be back to that one. If a referee has a pay issue they should contact their local association and go from there. Word of mouth has kept some referees from going to certain schools because of the payment speed.

Our school district will not allow us to pay refs who do not have updated tax forms, addresses, or basically information in general.

Our school district will not allow us to pay refs who do not have updated tax forms, addresses, or basically information in general. Certainly officials need to provide a w-9 to a school district if they require it, but once done, should not have to do for every single game. And once submitted, no reason for school not to make payment timely. (Guess what - football refs are paid before the game starts. SMe with baseball. If they can do it, so can soccer. One big difference is often the head coach is not an actual school employee and that may cause some coordinated delay). But as TTR stated, once a school is known to slow pay, or not pay, refs frequently stop taking their games. There are a couple of schools that I won’t work their tournaments any more as they always have payment problems and they never get resolved. Learned my lesson.

We would have to know the name of the ref ahead of time in order to have checks ahead of time.

Someone's ears must have been ringing. I was offered a game at the slow paying school for the near future and declined it and gave my reason.

Varsity is 155/crew. How that is split up depends on who you work for.
