I am going to pick Acadiana in a very heated battle. It seems as if everyone is dissing NS because the ran up the score on a few teams. NS is a very good team, in the end Acadiana will win this game 2-1. Acadiana has alot of skill and they play very disiplined soccer. I feel strongly that if Acadiana had the killer instinct of Lafayette, they could win state.
Acadiana 2 N-Shore 1

here is the newspaper article on the game.
Acadiana boys advance past potent Northshore Bruce Brown bbrown@theadvertiser.com February 17, 2004 SCOTT — The Acadiana Wrecking Rams knew they didn’t want the Northshore Panthers to get untracked in Monday night’s Division I soccer quarterfinals.
Any team that outscores its first two playoff opponents by a combined 27-0 gets your attention, and the Rams knew how to blunt that momentum.
“We hoped to score early, and put them having to play catchup,” said AHS coach Lucious Brumfield, whose squad jumped on top with a pair of goals in the first half and parlayed that into a 3-1 victory.
The result sends the Rams into a semifinal matchup on the road Saturday against the winner of today’s Jesuit-Central Lafourche game.
Jesuit knocked the Rams out in the quarterfinals last year, 2-1.
“We knew they had scored a lot of goals,” junior Chris Credeur said of Northshore. “We thought if we scored early and got them down that we would be able to hold the lead. We don’t like giving up many goals.”
Credeur opened the scoring for AHS with a penalty kick at the 12:20 mark of the opening half after Northshore’s Donald McPherson was called for taking out AHS captain Michael LeBlanc.
The pivotal score came late in the half when Chris Wilks took a cross from Josh Hefner and headed the ball past goal keeper Sean Bent with a diving effort.
That gave the Rams considerable momentum, with senior Nick Yandle in control in goal for AHS.
“They’re like our style,” said Brumfield, whose team improved to 20-6 on the year. “We both play a possession game, with good keeper play.”
Coach Chris Penton’s Panthers (18-6-1) got on the board early in the second half as midfielder Tyler Frost sent a penalty kick into the left corner of the goal at 35:42.
Acadiana responded eight minutes later when Hefner sifted in front and sent a deflection rolling past NHS goalie Sean Baylor.
“We wanted to develop chemistry at the beginning of the season,” Brumfield said. “We were hoping to prepare them for situations like this, so we would be able to handle it as a team.
“We worked on that early, so that we would be mentally prepared entering the game.”
“This is one of the best teams we’ve had at Acadiana,” said Credeur, who missed much of the second half with a possible concussion. “I think we have a great chance at winning state this year.” ©The Lafayette Daily Advertiser February 17, 2004

as much confindence as I have in Bruce Brown, I was hoping that someone who knows soccer and was at the game would compose a game recap. Was the score indicative of the gameplay? How many oppurtunities did each squad get? Who controlled the play? Thanks.

as much confindence as I have in Bruce Brown, I was hoping that someone who knows soccer and was at the game would compose a game recap. Was the score indicative of the gameplay? How many oppurtunities did each squad get? Who controlled the play? Thanks. in the first half the game was very one sided. acadiana had a lot of opportunities, and northshore looked very flat. acadiana scored twice, one off of a penalty kick, and another off of a very nice header. acadiana had several more chances that half but could not finish them. they had a header off a corner that went about a foot wide, and also had a shot that went very close. northshore's attack was pretty much non existent during the fist half except for a couple quick counter attacks. the second half northshore came out and played like they were capable of and the game was much closer. northshore scored quickly on a nice penalty kick . acadiana's 3rd goal came when the ball was bouncing in the box and one of their players headed it in. northshore built the ball up several times, but could not put it in the net. northshore had a shot with about 15 minutes left that beat the keeper but went inches wide. they then had a goal called back because of offsides. with about 10 minutes left, northshore had the ball in the acadiana box and the keeper made 2 excellent saves. acadiana then took the ball down the field and had one more close shot that went just wide. then the game ended. the game was pretty physical, with northshore getting 4 yellows and a red, and acadiana getting 2 yellows. acadiana is a very good team and good luck to them in the semis.
