Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using proboards Schedules (like any tourney) will come out the week of the tourney (generally). If you're just wondering who you will play, you can figure that out. If you're playing C1 & going to have 8 teams... Any RPL teams get seeded first (1,2, maybe an occasional 3) based on their finish in RPL (not based on head-to-head). After that, continue seeding the LCSL teams (3, 4, etc.) based on their finish in LCSL. 8 teams seems to be a happy number. If you're in a bracket like that, 1, 4, 5, & 8 seeds are bracketed together. 2, 3, 6, & 7 are in the other bracket. Each team plays the other 3 teams in their bracket. Winner of Bracket A plays 2nd place in Bracket B. Winner of Bracket B plays 2nd place in Bracket A. Winners of those games meet in a final. Is that what you're asking?

Pretty much. But I am curious about u14 girls. We will be comp 2 for sure but curious how many comp 1 they will have. They had 4 RPL teams, 5 comp1 teams, and 8 comp 2. Assume that the last three will be comp 3.
Wondering if they will keep 8 teams in comp 1 or do 6 like last year. Just curious when this will be out.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using proboards By reading the policy manual, I would guess it would be 8 C1 and 8 C2 based on that description with 1 team failing to qualify. Here are the excerpts for U14-U18 from page 102.... 1. Competitive 1 State Tournament: Will be an 8 team tournament comprised of the teams that participated in either the Region III Premier League or the Region III Premier League Central plus the top 5 or 6 teams as determined by Competitive 1 league play. The format will be standard seeded two weekend format per Policy 310. Teams that compete in this Competitive 1 State Tournament are eligible to participate in Region III Premier League Central based on their order of finish (U14-U17). State Champions will represent Louisiana at the USYS Regional event and depending on their performance at Regionals at USYS Nationals. 2. Competitive 2 State Tournament: Will be a 8 or 12 team tournament comprised of the Competitive 1 State League teams not participating in Competitive 1 State Tournament plus the top 5-6 teams from the Competitive 2 Playoffs. The format will be standard seeded two weekend format as per Policy 310. Invitations to attend the Region III President’s Cup will offered to state champions and if unable to attend to state finalist in order of finish for U14-U17 teams. 3. Competitive 3 State Tournament: Will be the remaining teams that are not participating in the Competitive 2 State Tournament. The format will be standard seeded two weekend format for the number of teams in the Competitive 3 State Tournament as per Policy 310.

Below is what is posted as the format for U14 girls on LSA website. Assume that it is this year because I know it wasn't the format from last year(at least not the boys side of it) Looks like they are using more 6 team C1 brackets.
U14 Girls 17 Teams 1/3 equals 5.66 or 6 RIII: 4 LCSL: 5 C1, 8C2 Competitive 1 6 teams (4 PLC + 2 LCSL C1) Competitive 2 8 teams (3 LCSL C1 + 5 LCSL C2) Competitive 3 3 teams (all LCSL C2)

Thanks. It seems silly to drop three out of comp 1. I am also curious what they will do if one of the C3 teams decides not to play in state cup?

If one or more of the c3 teams doesn't play in state cup, the remaining teams will have to play in c2 state cup.

Would they do 8 and 8 or would it be 6 and 10?

6 c1. 10 c2.

Dropping three down from C1 will virtually guarantee that NONE of the teams that have played C2 all year will have a shot at winning the C2 title.

I disagree...my daughter's team has played both Dynamo and SWAT. Both teams are well-coached, play solid defense, and have improved from the fall season.

Honestly, I think there are truly a group of five teams that are truly comp one, nine comp two teams, and three comp three teams. There's not a huge difference in the top five in comp two and from what I've seen not a big difference from the bottom three or four in comp 1 and those five teams.
Not claiming to be an expert at all.... though.

Laffysoccermom,
You may have it right which is why I think year to year they should figure out the number in each division rather than deciding it PRIOR to the season.

The three team tournament for a C-3 State Cup was ridiculous.

Justsayin,
Are you saying spending about a thousand in cup fee, coach's perdiem and travel is craxy for two games?

As a coach of one of those 3 U14 Comp 3 teams that played for the Comp 3 state cup last year I thought it was fantastic. My team tied both games but splitting them both in PKs. Ended up getting second place.
I liked it for two reasons.
Every team in the group was on par with each other. Trust me when I say that we couldn't compete with the other Comp 2 teams. So for the girls to be able to play in a tourney that they knew they had a shot at winning going into it was fantastic. All season long we would go to various lower level tourneys only to get crushed in at least one game if not two.
But the best thing about the tourney is we where able to play everything out that first weekend and didn't need to travel to Lake Charles for the finally weekend!! All three teams were from south east LA.

I have mixed emotions. Coming in third in a three team tourney is probably pretty sad. Also, we play tournaments for experience and to get just two games for the travel and cost is a bit much.
I do agree than the competition is more appropriate and even in c3 than in c2. No easy answers just thoughts.
