Noticed that many of the top LA boys club teams turned out in force for the Disney Showcase Tournament. But it looks like only one girls team from Louisiana attended Disney.
Does anyone have any ideas why there are fewer girls teams than boys at these high level showcases like Disney? Are the girls HS coaches being as supportive of their girls attending as the boys teams? Did teams apply but not get in?
It seems like the boys and girls teams that are attending are getting serious interest from tons of major college programs and is an obvious positive for attendees. Any ideas?

Part of the issue to me is the number of women's vs. men's college programs in Louisiana. Since there are so few men's programs in the state (Centenary and LSU-A are the only ones that I'm aware of) the boys who want to keep playing in college almost have to go to out-of-state schools, and therefore club teams have to attend events like Disney, CASL, and Las Vegas Showcase to be seen by multiple college coaches in a single sitting.
The girls have many more options in the local area to play in college, so perhaps it's not as critical for them to attend a Disney-type event.

The girls have many more options in the local area to play in college, so perhaps it's not as critical for them to attend a Disney-type event. And the ones who are interested in playing for out-of-state colleges tend to migrate to the club(s) that attend those showcases. I know Fire has girls who used to play for Mandeville and Cajun Soccer.
