Lusher wins 2-1 vs PJP. Newman wins 2-1 vs Haynes. While Haynes is playing Newman today, Lusher goes up against Pope John Paul and needs to take care of business. If Lusher wins today and Haynes loses, then all would look fine on Monday's PR. These won't be the exact numbers since it doesn't factor all previous opponents (just a few games), but based on this week's results only for just Lusher & Haynes, Lusher would be about 7.92 in 16th and Haynes would be about 7.77 in 18th. And things are as they should be.... Winning the next 4 is key to hosting a first game.

Having seen both teams play, Haynes should be ranked much higher than Lusher. But I guess the results after the first round of playoffs will tell.

And so it changes again. With International beating Houma Christian yesterday, they vault up to #31, forcing Country Day back down to 33. But only by a little bit-Ascension Episcopal is holding the slightest of margins with a 6.41 Power rating, where Country day is at 6.40. Exciting stuff!

Someone else said CD would qualify as district champ. Would that mean bumping AE? At this point yes--the #32 team would drop because of Country day winning their District. I stil say we wont have to worry as Country day should make it into the top 32 with the tough end of season schedule they have. Now, I just saw the Catholic NI score vs LAf Christian, and this will affect A of E. Give me a sec and we'll see what this does to the real time ratings.......

Well Ascension Episcopal extends its lead on Country Day by 8/100ths to 6.48 with the Catholic-NI win (AE had played CNI twice). Ascension Episcopal is now trying to hop over International of NO who sits right above them at #31 with a 6.52. getting that one spot ahead may mean the difference if CD fall apart later. Still lots of soccer to be played this week.
Here are my up to the minute PRs (still many unreported games)
teams in red will not play 15 games. Teams in blue are not competing for district honors and therefore are playoff ineligible
22 7.09 Ouachita Christian 23 7.08 Christian Life 24 7.06 Notre Dame 25 7.05 Abbeville 26 6.93 St Thomas Aquinas 27 6.88 Dunham 28 6.88 Glenmora 29 6.77 Riverside Academy 30 6.68 Archbishop Hannan 31 6.52 International HS of N.O 32 6.48 Ascension Episcopal 33 6.40 Metarie Park Country Day 34 6.28 West Feliciana 35 5.63 St Martins Episcopal 36 5.26 Grace Christian 37 5.11 Bossier 38 5.11 David Thibodaux 39 5.00 JS Clark 40 4.97 Ascension Christian

I was under the assumption that International was not competing for district honors this year. Shouldn't that effect the power rankings?

They must not be as they dont have a full district schedule. I'll leave them on the list for now with an asterisk

I was under the assumption that International was not competing for district honors this year. Shouldn't that effect the power rankings? They must not be as they dont have a full district schedule. I'll leave them on the list for now with an asterisk This is an interesting component around the cutoff teams. I've assumed that LHSAA has been dropping teams not competing for district from the PR list (most notably Pine & NOMMA) and didn't give it a 2nd thought. Games against those teams count & have been included in the calculations, but neither of them are on the PR list. But a team like International (and probably others) is included on the PR list, but aren't competing for district honors (at least they haven't scheduled the right opponents if they are). So I would think that they would also have been excluded (but games against them included). A quick skim through the District Play section of the Soccer portion of the LHSAA handbook did not allow me to find language that says you must compete for district to participate in playoffs (maybe I missed it). It does say the wildcards are selected from the non-qualifiers. I also know that some of the procedures mentioned in the language haven't been precisely followed in the last few years. Could International turn around & lobby to be included as a non-qualifier? It seems like there's some ambiguity to make the claim that they are. J.S. Clark would be another one in that boat - listed on PR list, but schedule doesn't suggest competing for district honors. Couple that with my confusion/misunderstanding/ambiguity around where teams with < 15 wins could/should land & it will be an interesting 4 hours in the a.m. after the final day of the season. hmmmmm....

I didn't know that games against Pine would count...? As I've worked with the numbers that LHSAA has published, they have included them. And it is my understanding that games against ANY varsity team regardless of whether not they compete for district ARE included.

Teams not playing for district honors was subject of a lengthy line... and concerns ignored ... some time ago. It was flatly stated in that line that such teams are not eligible for playoffs, but games against them count for PR. In D-III Pat Taylor, NOMMA, International, and two or three others were noted.
In the past, games against teams not playing for district were not counted as "games." Last year that changed and they were counted as "games," though the rationale for that change escaped me. It was never explained as the LHSAA has moved more and more to rule by appeal rather than actually write out rules that everyone can understand.
There are some teams that may not have 15 games if teams like Patrick Taylor are not counted as "games."
