Actually. This year had more nominations than any other year since the Lhsaa took over after the first all star game. The first all star game was done entirely by Doug, Sean and I via email to the coaching staffs and all coaches nominating and the game coaches and selection commiteee voting via email. That year had the most by far. The next year (2nd all star game) was taken over entirely by Lhsaa for nominations and we would have a selection meeting at their office each year with coaching staffs and selection committees selecting the squads. But this year was probably nearly double the nominations of any year since. It's much better to have the game at this time of year as the kids are still in shape, and still in school. Will make for an interesting game despite missing the Div I players in the finals. Those players will still be honored as all stars though like the NFL players from the super bowl are in the pro bowl.
I do know we tried to communicate this change to all coaches though email and LaPrep as much as possible as this is a big change from previous years. Yes some talented kids didn't get nominated cause of this change and some coaches not getting the info apparently. But the timeline was very quick and strict cause the uniforms from Nike must be order by certain deadline. Even with that deadline being so early, we just got uniforms from Lhsaa Monday and a really still don't have printed jerseys and warm up shirts yet cause they were being printed this week. We will get those tomorrow. So you see there are reasons for every deadline and we can't change what the Lhsaa says because they know how long it takes for Nike to process and get them in to us. I Do apologize for any kids fell though cracks cause of communication issues. But I do know we tried to send to our entire database all of the deadlines and the LhSAA also sent emails on the nominations deadlines as well. If a coach didn't get these, we need you to update your info with us as an LHSSCA member cause all state voting process should start soon and also for future correspondence. Also if you didn't get any emails from Lhsaa direectly for all star process or even the playoff or power rating process, then you need to have your principal or AD update your info in their database online for Lhsaa. Hope to see many of you all there this weekend as we are also having our LHSSCA meeting on Saturday at 4 pm at Tad Gormley Press box also. So this is THE high school soccer weekend for us and should be every year from here on out!
