In light of our disastrous performance this Gold Cup, especially the past two games, Jurgen suddenly finds himself on the hot seat, as he was in early 2013. While some are calling for his immediate firing, which was what happened to Bob Bradley in 2011, others are willing to be patient. Maybe the players are just not as good as we thought, but some of Jurgen's tactics and squad selections have to be criticized. We haven't had the same starting XI in any game since the WC tune-up matches in June 2014! That's on Jurgen.
Sunil Gulati has said that Jurgen's job is 100% safe earlier today, but I have to imagine behind the scenes he is very disappointed. The women winning the World Cup earlier this month definitely takes the sting off a little bit for Gulati, but I think we can all agree that finishing 4th place in the Gold Cup (our worst finish since 2000, when Colombia beat us on PKs) is not even remotely acceptable.
Any thoughts on the situation?
Personally I think we should find a new manager immediately if we fail to win the Confederations Cup playoff in October.

if USA doesn't qualify for the World Cup then a new manager is definitely needed. If we lost the playoff with a bad showing (0-2+) maybe get a new guy then as well. Hopefully Tim Howard comes back in time to play and redeem himself from what happened last time we played in the rose bowl... And hopefully the players get their s*** together and play like their professional soccer players. Hopefully germain jones is back too
October 9th .... Rose bowl

Ultimately, the World Cup is what matters. If we don't qualify, Klinsmann will and should be fired.
Was the GC performance disappointing? Yes. Would I like to see us in the Confederations Cup? Yes. Do either of those things really matter in comparison to the WC? No. I don't agree with everything Klinsmann does, but I don't think firing him is a good idea.

Maybe Klinsmann just really does not like the idea of going to Russia and making some of the worst personnel choices ever is a ploy.
