This is a free event. For all the people who think a pro team is just going to magically appear in New Orleans need to support games like these. This is a national event that US Soccer gets to see first hand how NOLA and the rest of the region responds. FREE!!

I caught the last few minutes of the first half and then left with a few minutes left in the match and Motagua up 5-2 thanks to a couple of great free kicks and some shoddy keeping from Queen City. Turnout wasn't great, partly due to the cold and dreary weather.

Game still on? Any news of weather cancellations? On a national scale rain doesn't cancel games. Turn out was decent for what it was. Louisiana is still a very uneducated state when it comes to soccer. Every person I told about this game had no clue as to what the US Open Cup is. Actually when I compared it as the Anerican version of the FA Cup they still looked at me with a blank stare. As the Louisiana Premier League grows so will our teams and the level of competition in our state. This was a huge win for Louisiana. Next game will be April 2nd, more than likely against regional rivals, NTX Rayados from Dallas. Both teams have met 3 times with the games split 1-1-1. Motagua beat NTX Rayados, in Dallas, this past summer, 3-0, I'm the USASA Region III championship. More people should follow amateur/semipro soccer. There would be no Jamie Vardy without it.

I attended the match, turnout was pathetic in my opinion. Queen city's football was very poor. Motagua was quite better on the pitch but some amateur give aways in the middle cost them two goals. The football just got worse throughout but individualities for motagua gave them the edge. Very dissapointed in the turnout. Even sunday league matches get more people on the sidelines, a shame really.

Poor for it being a free event and only getting 200 people, but considering that the national average for 2nd round games is probably around the 250-300 mark, it's not that bad. San Francisco FC was able to get 900 people to their game yesterday. However they have a following and have been trying at this competition for a while now. Queen City were young and had one game plan, try to outrun their opponent. Which may work in a game against less skilled players but Motagua was able to settle in and knock it around and keep them chasing the ball. If Motagua were to actually train and keep their guys in shape you would see a much better qualify of football.

Good job by Motagua.
Their support will grow slowly but steadily, as will the LPL.

The fact that there were several high school soccer tournaments this weekend may have had some affect on attendance. I know that after sitting through three HS games Saturday I was in no shape to sit through a fourth match . . .
