I had the privilege of meeting Coach Luis for a single weekend when my daughter guest played with one of his Slidell girls teams in a tournament a few years back. My daughter did not know a single girl on the team and yet ended up playing her best performance in a tournament still to this date. I remember him trying to explain the role of certain positions to her before she entered the game and making sure she felt as comfortable as possible. The impression he left on me was one of humility, calmness and a vast knowledge of the game and in coaching. You could tell that his girls really enjoyed having him as a coach and played hard for him. As mentioned in the podcast, his smile was infectious and I have no doubt he's left a big impression on all of his players over the years... he did for me and my daughter and that was only after 1 weekend. Rest in peace, Coach Luis!
