This week, the 17U girls team from Mandeville Soccer Club will represent Region III and Louisiana at the US Youth Soccer National Championships in Frisco, Texas. The team is the first from MSC to win regionals and only the fifth regional champion in Louisiana history.
MSC coach Shane Jeanfreau played on the first regional champion from Louisiana back in 1991. That team lost in the national finals.
Monday is the player luncheon. Competition begins Tuesday at 11 am against BC United of Binghamton in Western New York. Wednesday’s game is at 7 am and will be streamed live for those wanting to see the girls in action. Rebels Elite (Chula Vista outside San Diego in Cal-South) is the opponent Bracket play concludes on Thursday at 11 am against FCKC Academy Blues Elite from Kansas City, Missouri.
The top two teams from both brackets advance to the national semifinals on Saturday.
Good luck and good health to all competing. Have fun and make some great memories!

I was at the game. The lakers struggled in the first half, allowing their opponent to dictate the pace of play jumped out to the 3-0 halftime lead. Halftime talk must have worked, they played the type of soccer we are used to seeing from this group. They had many opportunities, but couldn’t finish. If they play like they did in the second half, they will get the 2 wins they need to advance
Good luck going forward.
