Does anyone think a public school will win a state title? In Division I? That’s a great question. I was thinking about this the other day. If it happened I always thought it would be with a Northshore school or a Lafayette team. I think you now need to include Dutchtown and maybe St. Amant. St. Amant was very good last year but didn’t deliver in the playoffs. Dutchtown and Lafayette would be my two picks this year but if Lafayette finds their form watch out. They’re good and they’re fast!

Denham Springs and maybe Dutchtown/ St.Amant could have a shot this year.
I strongly believe after seeing them play and seeing impressive scorelines from DS that they would be the Favorite out of public schools.

Granted, it has been all Jesuit/St Paul’s the last decade, but ever? Plenty have. Acadiana, Lafayette, Carencro, Caddo... aren’t those all public schools?

I saw Denham beat Lafayette in the COPA and thought the same thing. Then I saw St. Amant beat Denham 2-0. St. Amant lost to Lafayette 2-1 and there it is. Who the hell knows but I’ve not seen any of them beat St. Paul or The Bluejays. Catholic could beat everybody but apparently they only allow seniors to play. Not sure if that’s true.

Why is this limited to Div I? Aren’t we on a 12 year streak for no public boys soccer state championships of ANY classification? Seems like a real level playing field...

I've been impressed with the public schools I've seen this year

It is hard for me to consider a school that charges tuition and has admission standards public. I understand the state considers them public, but that is not the only thing the state and I disagree with.

Ben Franklin and Lusher do not charge tuition. But yes they are selective admissions.

I think Ascension probably has the best shot, particularly St Amant and Dutchtown. I feel as if St Amant has the best shot of the two. Garcia has built a really good program at St Amant

Please ruin soccer like football. The championships all what 9 of them are going now and absolutely no one cares. No buzz even the media. Talking football in the south and lhsaa and principals have managed to kill it.

St. Amant has a good chance to win D1 this year.
