So there are now 12 different classifications for basketball. Division I has 12 teams. Some of the 12 teams are about 5 games below .500. Some teams have 2 byes. It is so watered down. This would be a disaster in soccer. I look at the final four in each classification and in DI and DII 5 out of the 8 teams are public schools. What was the original purpose of select v non select. It seems like it leveled the playing field for smaller public schools but watered down the rest. Any thoughts.

Four Divisions is plenty. It is good like it is. Please don't break a good thing.

I have been against the split since day one. I believe to be the best you need to beat the best. Then again, I only want the top 8 seeds (Jesuit's circumstances last year was an anomaly imho...not the norm). Just my .02.

If St. Amant won a state title and didn’t play vs the private schools in the playoffs I wouldn’t want my kid to be a part of Highschool soccer. St. Paul and Jesuit are the two best teams this year no question about it, but what are we saying when we separate. I think we would be saying my ego is so large that I’m going to set it up so I have a chance to win a mediocre trophy. No thanks keep us with St. Paul and Jesuit and make us grind and find a way. Come up short and learn a better life long lesson. Winning is easier to swallow than losing in the short term but in the game of life real winners lose several times along the way. If they split it I’ll be sick to my stomach and we will be killing the game. No thanks! I’ll take my losses and life lessons attempting greatness over a mediocre trophy any day.

Keep In mind that a lot of public schools athletes dont have the privilege to do club soccer after high school season. That's a huge disadvantage already. But competition wise i feel it is a good thing to keep it as it is right now.

Don’t separate soccer, the kids want to compete against the best teams regardless of what school it is.

Don’t separate soccer, the kids want to compete against the best teams regardless of what school it is. Politically correct talk No they don’t Not a level playing field and it’s one of 2 sports not split and with the excuses for splitting being what they are, those 2 sports should have been split first. Like I said, enjoy the last year or two. Coaches don’t feel like you do and the last 2 years I hear more and more of the public school coaches who wanted to stay together say no more. It’s haooening, just hope it’s done correct and both sides do what is right

In who's best interest is it to "do the right thing", if they split, the kids? If it does come, you can bet the setback to soccer in this State will be hard to overcome.

To be the best you have to play the best. Maybe not a non-select,select split but what about a relegation system. I’m sure a bunch of really talented teams in lower divisions would love a shot at the giants in playofff games that matter

I would like to add that we could make the promotion optional for a team. So a talented team who is losing a lot of seniors could choose to stay in their division if they choose to.

In the end, it’s all about life lessons and teaching kids to be successful. The split will be the death of Louisiana high school soccer.

Teams can already chose to play at a higher division if they want. I’m not sure if both the boys and girls teams must do so. I’ve actually heard of one team that played up because they felt they would do better in the higher division rather than increased competition.
I don’t think you’re ever going to get a soccer specific playoff system- mainly because LHSAA is not going to put the time into developing and managing it. The other issue I see with promotion system is that you would almost have to make it mandatory- we have an optional one now. Some teams may lose more than half their starters in a year and have vastly varying talent levels from year to year.

I do not want to see a split but if they do decide to split I hope it stays 4 total divisions.
2 Select and 2 Non-Select.
