Should be interesting. Tomorrow is always my favorite day on these boards. We usually have more ties but this year it only looks like 2.

I'm done for the night. Spoiler alert... when the Ponchatoula-Hammond score is official, Dominican and Mandeville will switch spots. LHSAA usually gets their final PR out early tomorrow and I don't know if those scores will be posted yet. The only other game I have questions about is the Vermillion-Ellender game from 1/15. If that game was played, it will flop 7 and 8 in Div IV. If anyone has any questions let me know. Good luck to everyone in the playoffs!

I like where you have us on the bracket. One spot makes a huge difference in traveling arrangements. LHSAA has us one spot higher.

Any update or resolution on that D Thibodaux score from earlier in the year? LHSAA has them at 13 with Haynes at 12.

Ok I see the other thread open, looks like DT gets credit for their win but the effects of that win not spread to other common opponents of DT?

I switched Pearl River and Brusly. Pearl River won the tiebreaker. Hopefully we don't have any forfeits by teams that don't want to travel... like we had last year. If you don't want to be in the playoffs you need to inform LHSAA before the brackets come out at noon.

McGehee got double screwed on Monday night. Hahnville (DI) and McGehee (DIV) played a very competitive game to end the season. A minute and 30 seconds over the 40 minute time frame Hahnville scored a goal to tie the game 2-2, the last kick of the game. The ref should know that no extra time is added in high school soccer and there was no reason for extra time to be added. The win would have moved McGehee up to around 4th in the rankings (it would have been a 19 point game) and given them a first round bye. Instead they finished 9th. Finishing 9th they should get the 24th ranked team (the last team to make the playoffs) but instead because Runnels only scheduled 15 games and had 1 cancelled, thus playing 14, they moved to 24th and now McGehee gets to play a team with the 16th highest power point ranking. LHSAA needs to take a look at this scenario because you are penalizing the teams with more points to make up for the scheduling issues of the team that did a poor job of scheduling enough games.
I know this may seem like a minor issue but Pope John Paul (ranked 10) beat the team that McGehee should have played 8-0. I certainly believe that Runnels is a much better team then that.
Additionally, in the same game the same ref did not know the yellow card rule and did not allow Hahnville to sub a player in when one of their players received a yellow card. They played a player down for several minutes before another player was allowed to sub. LHSAA need to do a better job of making sure the refs know the rules of the games that they are officiating.

The ref should know that no extra time is added in high school soccer and there was no reason for extra time to be added. This is incorrect. NFHS rules say that the clock should stopped after a goal (until the kick-off occurs), for an injury (if signaled by the referee), whenever a card is given, and at the taking of a penalty kick. The referee is able to stop the time on his/her watch directly in the final 5 minutes of the second half for injuries/time-wasting.

NHFS 6-2-3a "The official timer shall stop the timing device when signaled to do so by the referee for an injury, for a pk, for a caution, for a disqualification, following the soring of a goal, and when an official orders the clock to be stopped."
When were the other 3 goals scored? The clock officially stops after every goal in NHFS games. The clock also stops after every substitution under 5 minutes by the winning team. So while there is no "extra time added" there probably is still time on the referee's watch left to play.
Can't help you with the yellow card sub issue but there are a multitude of reasons why the game went past "the 40 minute time frame"

Thanks for the timing rule. So he knew or followed some of the rules but not all of them.
What do you all think about the scheduling rules where a team is dropped to 24th when they don't play enough games?
