Two Boys State Quarterfinal’s in Lafayette last night and not a word in The Daily Advertiser! What a bunch of amateurs! This is no longer a local paper. I believe it’s owned by a company out of Kansas. Cancel your subscription I see that the coaches bear some of the burden of getting the media to the games during the regular season - ok, I don't totally agree but I guess I can see …. but during the playoffs, that responsibility should lie with the media outlets - the bracket is available and easy to read.

They also own USA Today and 5 newspapers in Louisiana: The Town Talk in Alexandria The Daily Advertiser in Lafayette The News-Star in Monroe Daily World in Opelousas The Times in Shreveport Seems they are pretty consistent in not covering soccer.

Found it somewhat odd that The Baton Rouge Advocate wouldn't cover ALL of its local teams hosting quarterfinals, especially with Catholic High hosting Brother Martin where they also own The New Orleans Advocate.

The paper has 4-5 sections totaling like 18 pages - 3 of which are obits and 5 are classified ads - not a paper any longer

The Advocate does not send out staff reporters to cover soccer. They send out free lance guys. The point is they are not looking for soccer stories. You have to contact them. Coach has a lot to do so he/she should appoint a parent to contact paper. No one appointed me but when Kevin or someone pointed out the email and phone number for the Advocate I took it upon myself to send them scores and stats if they are not there and to alert them to up coming games. Not sure if it helps but someone has covered most of our important games.

And I checked with someone else and yes he still has the same cell number. So when I texted him about our history making season and it was senior night for our boys and girls who also had a history making season, I never got a response. I could even see that he READ the text message and I never got a response back. That’s totally unacceptable and may even be on the lines of an arse whipping where I come from, haha. Can only hope for Karma in this situation but this was definitely unacceptable

I will say I never get response back to when I send in scores/stats or when I send in when an upcoming game is to be played. it goes out and I hope it gets printed or someone shows up.

Not only did they not cover the Catholic/Brother Martin game they reported Catholic advanced on PKs. That was a nice little nugget which I'm not sure how anyone at the paper could have made up since they weren't at the game. Again, I don't begrudge anyone getting coverage. All kids work and for the teams that have advanced this far, you deserve the recognition and deserve more going forward. The strange thing was that the paper was able to use its resources in New Orleans to get coverage of Parkview's road loss to Lusher, but not able to do that same at home with Catholic hosting another team from New Orleans, yet found it newsworthy enough to cover a non-district basketball game at Runnels for the first time this year in light of the high school portion of the school closing after this school year.

The Daily Advertiser only posting photos on the online edition with no article or even a score, is basically non-coverage. They lost me as a customer after 20 years. Of course, the actual “paper” had ZERO

Of course, the actual “paper” had ZERO I agree as I stopped at three gas stations today and not one had the paper much less the article. However, it is a sign of the times as these articles circulated all over Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and team snap.

The Advocate didn't even mention Bonnabel as a local quarterfinal team when they listed them out in the preview article. I sent a somewhat disparaging email to the reporter and received a reply back apologizing for the neglect. This was after I sent emails to all of the sports reporters at the beginning of the season and during the season with zero replies back to me.
